Regional versions and Compatibility question

hey there! does anyone know if European AC:WW towns can visit North American AC:WW towns? and vice versa

i wanted to buy another DSi xl with an accompaning AC:WW cart and i have the option to buy a european cart. i currently have a USA cart.

i cannot find any information online about this so i hope someone can help me here :' ]

As far as I know you should be able to visit every western copy of the game. Japanese are not compatible with the rest however because the possible town name length is different and maybe also the name.
So you should have no problems with either copy besides japanese.
