I need an alias! Any ideas?

Oh man, sorry to hear that you aren't feeling the name Ian any more. It is one of my all time favs! I have only one male name that I've liked longer than that and fully intend on naming my son with it (assuming I have children someday and one is a boy).

I have a longer last name too (5 syllables!) and I think long names either song good with a short first name, or a long first name if the syllables match up. For example, your last name has three syllables so a first name with three will flow nicely and be pleasing coming off the tongue, if that makes sense. Something like Anderson, Jameson or Nathaniel.

I also think the names Miles, James, and Reid are classy as all get out.

Aww, memories.. Haha, Milo was my first ever alias.

But unfortunately it also has some bad memories tied to it. :( I came out to a girl I was friends with online when I was under the name "Milo", and I thought she was cool with it, until the day after the next when she stopped responding to all of my messages. (really bummed me out cuz I kinda had a crush on her, too >_>)

Trevor.

Seriously. I've been using it for 23 years and I've yet to come across a better name.

Trevor Christopher flows quite well. Plus it has the two-first-name-name thing going on.

Edit - Though I suppose that's hardly unique to using the name "Trevor" in this situation now is it.

Strange how some people are recommended their own name/names they use. xD Were it me, I probably wouldn't want someone using my name. (maybe I'm just possessive lol)

Why not go for the last name as a first name approach?

- Campbell Christopher
- Gallagher Christopher
- Hartman Christopher
- Jett Christopher (I like this one)

I think part of the reason I'm having such a hard time choosing a name isn't because I don't like all the names everyone is recommending.. but rather, it's because I feel like the name is "ugly" on me. If that makes sense. lol

Kind of like how you can like an outfit, and think it looks great on someone else, and wish you could pull it off. But then you put it on and look in the mirror and you're like "Ew...".

I like the name Jett/Jet, too. It's all thanks to this guy:

I'm too lame to pull the name off, though. ; w ;

No, I understand. My name is Meagan (ew) but I never go by that name because it doesn't suit me or my personality. For a while I was just Nicole, but I dunno I dislike that name too (Even if it's my middle name and kinda fits me.) Then I was KT for a while and eh, it's okay but I mean... It's kinda like DJ or BJ or JB. Cute at first...

I found/was given Lina and it just... fits me. I have been Lina for years and love it. You gotta find the name that is right for you, that fits your personality and your style.

what about....Robin.

Robin Christopher. You're the reverse of Christopher Robin! Plus, it's a little gender neutral too.

Ha! That's cute. xD I like it.. I might even use it for awhile. But I don't know if I could use it seriously - since people would easily catch on to the joke. :p

*snort* I just realized C r y s t a l recommended Aiden a few pages back..

That's like, the go-to trans guy name, for some reason. xD So for those who are aware tend to avoid the name so they're not "just another trans guy named Aiden".

What about Adam? One of my favorite boy names and it goes well with Christopher, I think. Or Dylan, Owen, Gavin, Andrew, Joel, Jude, or Nolan? (Sorry if any of these have already been said, I just skimmed through the previous posts.)

If no one's suggestions are quite working out, I'd recommend this website, babynamesworld.com. I've referred to it on a number of occasions (choosing an alias for myself, choosing character names.....) You can browse names by origin or category (i.e. "place" names, "cute" names, nicknames, literary character names.... there's a ton), or do an advanced search, if you have an idea of certain criteria you want in a name (like not exceeding a certain length/number of syllables, or not ending with a certain letter).

Each name has its own page of information about it too, including a list of similar names -- so if there's a name you like but don't think quite fits, you could start from that name's page and look at all the similar names for others you might like.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

I use those baby name websites all the time too whenever I'm looking for a character name.

Thanks! :)

I think I might be close to picking a name now, though. :D The two I'm debating over right now are:

Robin Christopher - The name "Robin" is easy on the ears, flows nicely with my last name, is a cute joke (thanks in-a-pickle :p), and ins't too feminine or too masculine - which is good, because I don't want to be mistaken for a girl, but I'm also not your typical "masculine" dude. So I suppose it suits me in that regard. (also there're a bunch of cool fictional "Robin"s)

Nathan Christopher - Doesn't flow quite as well as Robin does, but I like the name, and especially the nickname "Nate". I'm also a fan of Uncharted, and Nathan/Nate is the name of the protagonist of the series. :p

And honestly, I think I'll end up going with Robin haha, but Nathan is cool, too. (although there's no rule saying I can never change my mind - if I decide I like another name better later on, I suppose I could just change it again)

Oh, yeah. No problem! I've never had the chance to change my own name, but I know how hard it is to find something suitable that really fits (for naming things in general, lol)

I love both Robin and Nathan, good luck choosing :)
