Giveaway Friday the 13th Contest/1000th Post Special [Entries Closed]

Heh:

Alice sat against the steep seaside cliff of her town to watch the thin red sun disappear behind cold blue waves, but her gaze occasionally fell upon Pascal as he stood paddling on a surfboard and wearing a pirate cap recently confiscated within a shipwreck graveyard on a nearby island. For the umpteenth time he paddled past her, singing tunes ironically about a longing for the sea, and waved back at her.

Even from Pascal’s viewpoint, one could make out the quaint features of Cloudrim: its columns of oak lining cobblestone paths, houses of smooth stucco walls and low pitched roofs, and iron lamp posts that gave the purple wisteria hanging from trellises a fiery glow. The latter was as intoxicating to the eyes as the nutmeg and clove from Brewster’s Roost was to the nose.

However, hidden from the rural serenity behind Alice was an abnormal growth waiting patiently in ambush within the thicket of white-flowered, bushy evergreen peers.

Alice stood up to return home, in high spirits, for tomorrow she would travel to a neighboring town and convince her favorite villager to give Cloudrim a chance. She breathed deep as a gust like the bursting breath of God coursed through her thin, blue trim dress.

And as Alice walked away from the departing sun and salty spray toward the benign chatter of villagers, the lemon scent of long green foliage, and the clanking of Cyrus’ tools emanating near a smoke stack, her perpetual, creepy smile evaporated like rain drops falling upon magma, since right before her stood the heavy presence that the peers clouded from her senses.

Neither the row of jack-o-lanterns with life-like faces as if carved from wax, nor the fake but convincing blood spattered liberally upon the peers, scared her, but something rather normal, so far as a quaint town went:

The unwanted villager’s house.

It seemed to laugh with the vigor of a thousand animated jack-o-lanterns, and stride with the strength of a hundred Headless Horsemen. Even the fake blood on its walls seemed more virile than that sprayed on the surrounding peers.

Not even H.P. Lovecraft could have depicted a greater horror than Alice had shown on her face that moment before the scream. Copper was quick to the scene, but when he nudged her for details she did not cease staring straight ahead with a fixation that only a statue could match.

Copper followed the direction of her eyes when he, too, became aware of the new house that came suddenly, in time for Halloween, as if Dorothy’s tornado found a new town to use as its dumping ground.

“Oh, God,” Copper let slip under his breath, as if involuntary. And he began to weep.

Note: The line 'bursting breath of God' was taken from 'Pilgrim Step,' a poem I just finished a draft for, heh.

Alice checked in at a hotel on a rainy night. She came here to visit this city and to reunite with her friend, Kaiaa. When she got into her room, she noticed that a pair of muddy slippers were placed by the bedside. Alice was furious and immediately called the hotel front desk to complain. A house keeper later came and brought her a new pair of slippers, though she expressed confusion because she did not remember seeing them earlier this afternoon during the cleanup. Alice did not believe what the housekeep said.

The next morning, Alice woke up to Kaiaa’s phone call. “did you forgot about our plan today? Get your butt here in 10 mins!!”. A pissed off Kaiaa is very scary. Alice shivered at the thought of her angry friend, jumped out of her bed, and got herself ready as fast as humanly possible. When she was about the leave the room though, Alice noticed that the slippered were nowhere to be seen. “I probably kicked them under the bed or something. Oh well, I will come to look for them when I’m back.” She then left the room.

Alice was struck with horror and surprise when she came back at night. The slippers reappeared, but they are covered in mudd, again. Alice was creeped out and felt something was not right. She run down to the lobby as fast as she could and asked for an exchange of the room. To her disappointment thought, the hotel was fully booked the night.

It is way too late to drive to Kaiaa’s place now given how far and isolated the hotel is. Disgusted and petrified, she throw the slippers in the garbage bins in the corner and retreated to her bed. “Just one more night, one more night,” Alice whispered to herself while trying to calm herself down.

She did not think that she could rest for the night, but somehow Alice fell asleep without knowing. The next thing she knew, nature calls, and she feels the urge to use the restroom. Then she slowly opened her eyes, and froze, all sleepiness gone. In the dark room, under the faint moonlight, she saw a child covered in blood and mud, with an axe in his hand, standing in front of her bed wearing that exact pair of muddy slippers . The child looked into her eyes, cracked into a sick, twisted smile, and called out…

...

“mama, I love you…”

Those were the last words that Alice ever heard.

Inspired by the Aika village and Japanese horror stories :)

Aw, these kinds of contest are so fun! I wanna play, but I don't really know much about horror stories, so I'll just steal from the movies. (If you recognize it, don't worry, I changed it a bit, so I'm not spoiling the movie) XD

Alice and Kaiaa were really good friends. Then one day, Alice met some boys and went camping with them. Turns out the boys had tricked her into going, so they could sacrifice her to the devil. Little did they know, that this would actually turn her into an evil, succubus demon! Alice took revenge on the boys by eating them alive, one by one...a slow and painful death indeed. Then she went to Kaiaa's house and raided her fridge. Kaiaa walked into the kitchen and saw that her friend had turned into an evil, blood-thirsty monster. Alice didn't notice Kaiaa since she was busy stuffing her face. Kaiaa was scared but then she thought "meh, I never really like her anyway", so she grabbed a huge knife off the counter and plunged it in Alice's back. All of a sudden a bunch of black-tar-goo started gushing out of Alice's mouth, eyes, ears, and nose....she basically just turned into a puddle of black-tar-goo. Kaiaa watched in horror as this black-tar-goo slowly oozed on the floor, and made a huge mess everywhere. She was really annoyed that she'd have to clean that up before her parents came home. What a nightmare. So typical of Alice to make a mess and leave it for Kaiaa to clean it up. She did her best, but it took NINE rolls of paper towels to clean up that mess! Ugh, now she'd have to answer about that to her mom too. So annoying. She decided the only thing she could do was sneak over to the store and buy some dumb paper towels and just replace the ones she'd used so she wouldn't have to deal with her mom. But you know how expensive paper towels are!!! This really was just awful. But it was better than facing the wrath of cheapo-mom.

Later that night, Kaiaa laid in bed and thought about her day. She was glad that she didn't have to deal with Alice anymore. But she really was gonna need to get a manicure the next day, because no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't get the black-tar-goo stain off her nails. And she had spent all her pocket-money on those stupid paper towels. She sighed and rolled over. She would not be sleeping easy that night. No, not until she could figure out where to get the money for that sorely-needed manicure. Suddenly she had an evil thought. Yes, a very dark and evil thought. She knew exactly where she would get the money. Tomorrow. She smiled at the darkness in her room. She smiled at the darkness in herself. She smiled. Because she knew...the nightmare had only just begun...

Nice stories, guys! Loving them so far.

If possible could you edit your art onto your entry, Silversea?

(TRIGGER WARNING: Blood/gore ^^; sorry its so long, I love writing.)

Alice sat in her dreary room on a stormy, agonizingly long night alone. Kaiaa was out at the mall with some friends, but since Alice wasn't feeling her best that night, she decided to stay home and relax and nurse herself back to a peaceful state of mind, which had been snatched from her due to stress from school work and her mother's constant nagging to go out and find herself a significant other. Staring at her squeaky, slow laptop with a bleak expression, Alice unraveled herself from the blue and white flowery sheets on her bed to go and sit at her new antique maple wood vanity, feeling slightly inspired to make herself look presentable when she wasn't doing it for anyone else but herself. "Can't believe I haven't used this vanity yet.." She yanked open the ancient top drawer on the vanity, sending up some sawdust into her air bubble, and wiped some dust that clung to the mirror away with her blue flannel pj sleeve. Tying her hair up into a messy, tousled bun with a frail black hair tie she's had for god knows how long, she peered at her reflection with a smirk, noticing a small cut on her lip. She frowned slightly in confusion and touched the cut, drawing her hand back and noticing a little blood on her finger. She shrugged it off and pulled out her liquid eyeliner pen, giving it a gentle shake and drawing on a thin, perfect, black wing. As she went to do her second one on the other eye, she heard the front door open, the rattle of keys, and slam shut again. She put down her eyeliner pen and started out to the living room, only to see no one.

"Oh Kaiaa, I'm glad you're home! I was just about to do my makeup- do you want me to do yours?"
No response.
"Kaiaa?" Alice spoke louder, furrowing her brow in search of Kaiaa's hand bag or umbrella. She didn't see either.
Alice frowned and murmured to herself, "I'm almost positive that was our door.. maybe it was our upstairs neighbor's door. Oh well.." She sat down once again, looking for her mascara while she remembered it in her vanity drawer. Finding it and looking back up onto the vanity top, her eyeliner pen was broken- more like shattered into pieces- spilling some type of red liquid all over the unfinished wood.

"What? H-.. That's going to stain!!!" Alice uttered, surrounded by a whirl of confusion. "My eyeliner is black.. not red.. I didn't spill a drink, did I?" She looked up in the mirror to confirm her thoughts, but instead of her reflection, found chicken scratch writing instead- in the red liquid.

The hardly legible writing said:

"DON'T USE WHAT ISNT YOURS"

Alice's breath got caught in her throat. The writing wasn't in eyeliner- eyeliner didn't drip like that. Her hands shook with fear as the black liner on her eye began to slide off her face, like she'd begun to cry, when she hadn't. It slid off her eye down to her cheek, caressing her nose as it passed over the cut on her lip, stinging it and spilling blood from it. Alice screamed out of sheer terror. "Kaiaa, this isn't funny!"

"What's not funny? What's going on?"

Alice turned around, her face twisted with horror, and saw Kaiaa standing there in a soaked raincoat and her sunflower umbrella closed up, dripping on the carpet. "Oh my god, don't ever play a trick like that on me again!"

"Alice, I literally just got home. What are you talking about? Why are you screaming?"
"Look what happened to my eyel-" Alice turned around to show Kaiaa the shattered pen and red liquid, but nothing was there. No stain, no shards of plastic or felt- nothing. The cut on her lip was gone as well. "It was just here.." she looked up at the spotless vanity mirror, appalled. "I swear, it was-.." she fumbled for words, touching the spot where the cut was.

"I think you need to get some rest.." Kaiaa furrowed her brow and helped Alice up from the miniature bench that came with the vanity. She lead her over to her bed and covered her up. They said their goodnights and Kaiaa turned off her bedroom light, leaving Alice shivering in terror in the dark. She glared at the mirror from her bed, and a sudden flash of lightning through her sheer curtains blinded her for a split second. She looked back to the vanity, whose mirror was now cracked and now broken, pieces falling from it. In an instant, the ancient drawers all flung themselves open with great force, throwing all her makeup products that she hadn't touched for ages into the air. They hovered over the vanity top as an apparition began to form itself on the bench.

The apparition resembled a woman- perhaps from the fifties or forties era. She picked up the powder puff that was suspended midair and dappled her cheeks with it, smiling into the mirror, where there was no reflection. Alice couldn't even scream at this point, totally astonished. The woman's shoulder length, platinum blonde, curled hair lay perfectly along her back. Her bright red ruffled blouse and fitted black pencil skirt twisted with her Barbie perfect body as she turned to face Alice. She gave an evil grin. "If I can't be beautiful, I'd rather just die!" She spoke with a cheery voice, her cherry red lips curling into a smile as she turned and showed her other cheek, which was bloodied from the gaping wound next to her eye. Alice shrieked as the woman got up and approached her, the makeup that was suspended midair following after her, closing in on her face.

With another flash of lightning, the woman was gone. Kaiaa burst into Alice's room, asking her to explain what's going on.
"I-I have to get r-rid of that vanit-t-y..." Alice's chest heaved when she spoke, tears slipping from her eyes.

"Trick or treat!" Kaiaa and Alice shouted.

"Cool costumes! You're both zombies? Lovin' the makeup!" the man exclaimed as he placed a Hershey's chocolate bar
in each of their bags.

"Yep! Thanks dude!" the girls yelled before skipping away to the next house.

Out of nowhere, a small drop of rain came from the sky. Drip drop. Then, it poured down all at once. Alice and Kaiaa didn't want their candy destroyed, so they asked to stay at the man's house until it went away.

The man slowly advanced towards Kaiaa. "I wonder what you look like under all that make up?" he thought out loud.

"Don't you girls want a bite of me?" the man questioned.

Alice and Kaiaa looked at each other before heading towards him. Alice flung herself at him, and tackled him to the ground. She held him down, giggling. Kaiaa got on him and nibbled at his neck, and then tore at his skin with her teeth. The man's scream pierced the air, and then soon, the sound of his breaths could no longer be heard. Alice decided to join Kaiaa and she too started tearing at the man's skin; her mouth filled with his flesh, and she had a bit of blood dribbling down her chin.

"This tastes way better than candy," Kaiaa stated with her mouth full. Alice said nothing, and instead stuffed her face with more pieces and tried to finish her tasty meal.

(just a little music to enhance your reading experience lmao because it's kind of weird but the music is nice so maybe it'll make my writing seem nicer!)

---

The full autumn moon hung low in the sky, it's ethereal glow casting shadows that danced in the darkness. It was absolutely silent other than the distant crashing of waves upon sand, and the buzzing of a dimming street lamp that sat outside of a dreary train station. A crisp breeze rustled the leaves of hues of orange and red, although the colors were muted by the darkness that enveloped the sleepy town. Well, it wasn't much of a town to be realistic. There was a consignment store that sat in a patch of dirt, weeds popping up between cracks in the stone that paved the entrance to the now abandoned shop. It's windows were crudely boarded up, and a "CLOSED. FOREVER." sign flapped loosely in the wind against a door with peeling paint. A few paces west of the empty shop there was a stone building with light seeping out of the windows and the crack in between the door and the ground. Inside, a dog with thick yellow fur sat behind a desk twiddling her fingers. There were stains underneath her eyes that ran down her cheeks where tears had once fallen, but she had done nothing to conceal them. She remained relatively still in her seat, although every time her eye caught a flicker of movement outside the window, such as a rogue leaf riding the breeze, her eyes would light up and her tail would start wagging. These fits only lasted a few seconds, and afterwards she would return to her sullen stationary position.

This night was not unlike any other in this place; silent. That is, until the distant rumble of a train on the tracks began to fill the silence, and every creature turned it's ears to see what, or rather who, was arriving. The dog with the thick yellow fur jumped out of her seat, and ran as fast as her short legs could carry her to the train station, an old lantern in her hand to provide light for the journey. Halfway to her destination though, she stopped mid-step, her ears swiveling to the right to investigate a sound. She scanned her surroundings, but it was so dark she could only see within the radius of light her lantern provided. What had she heard? Whispers? Or merely the wind? She clutched the lantern closer, and her expression became solemn. She stood there like that for a moment, her gaze trained on the ground in an act of pondering, and then continued about her way.

When the dog arrived at the train depot, the train itself was still a ways off. Despite this, she entered anyways. A weary monkey clutching his hat behind a ticket booth looked at the dog, bewildered. "Isabelle", he gasped. "Do you think it could be?" Isabelle offered a weak smile, and shrugged. "Who else would it be, Porter?" Porter scrambled for words, blubbering. "I mean, I don't know!- we are the only town this far down the circuit, so it's not like they could be visiting anywhere else, and... who else could it be?" As soon as Porter finished his sentence, the train pulled up, it's brakes hissing. Isabelle adjusted her shirt and swallowed a lump in her throat, her heart lurching. She didn't think she'd live to see this day, even though she hoped for nothing more than to be able to. The doors opened slowly with a prolonged squeak, and a pretty young woman stepped out and into the station. She had short black hair and wide blue eyes that were framed by a pair of glasses. She held a small suitcase in one hand, the other fidgeting with her dress. For a few moments, they all stood in a group looking at each other, searching for words. None of them knew exactly what to say.

It was Isabelle who first broke the silence. "Welcome back, Alice." She wanted to finish her statement with some kind of snarky comment, but she restrained herself, not wanting to seem out of character. Alice looked at Isabelle, and then around the rest of the building. "Hey, Isabelle. Some welcome-back party, huh? Well, at least you're here, right?" She retorted with a sideways smile. Isabelle smiled and placed her hand on Alice's to quiet her fidgeting. "I'll always be there for you Alice, you know that." The words echoed through Alice's mind, and she nodded, her smile fading. "Seriously, though. Where is everyone? Sleeping? It's only, what... 10? 10:30 at most. I mean, I get it if Molly is sleeping... but what about Jacques? Fang? Those guys are real night owls, you know what I'm saying?" Isabelle watched Alice as she spoke, her face callous throughout the duration of the spiel. "You'd like to know where they are, Alice?" Alice laughed dryly. "Yeah, I'd like to know where they are." Isabelle nodded slowly, and raised her lantern. "Well, all right then. Follow me."

Together, Isabelle and Alice walked through the dry husks of long grass and weeds, Alice glancing around restlessly. "Where are we? Isn't this where Annalise's house is supposed to be? Isabelle, did she move?" Isabelle remained silent, and continued leading Alice through the desolate town. Alice stopped, watching as Isabelle continued ahead. "...Isabelle?" The dog turned around, her eyebrows knit together. "You want to know where they are? The others?" She asked maliciously, walking closer towards Alice. "I thought you would have heard them by now!" Alice frowned in confusion, raising an eyebrow. "What are you talking abo-?" Isabelle shoved the lantern into Alice's arms, and whipped her around so Alice's back was touching her chest. "Listen, listen to their voices... every night they call to you. They scream your name, Alice." Alice broke free of the dog's tight grip, laughing in disbelief. "What are you talking about?? I don't hear anything but the wi-"... Alice stopped, her face falling. She turned around slowly and raised her lantern to the darkness, her heart stopping. "...what was that?"

Soon, voices began to fill their ears, carried in on the breeze. "Where were you, Mayor?", "We needed you... You weren't there! You were never there!", "Why did you leave us, Alice?", "I missed you... did you miss me?". Alice stumbled backwards, reaching for Isabelle. "Isabelle, what's happening? Help!" Her arms grasped at air, missing the dog by nearly a mile. "Isabelle!" She grabbed again, once again getting nothing. Shadows began to creep out from the darkness and crawl towards Alice, and she screamed in terror, tears of confusion and fear filling her eyes. "ISABELLE!", she shrieked once more, her voice cracking as she turned around to face her friend.

But Isabelle wasn't there.

Yep.
This is my entry.
Just a warning though, i came up with what scares me the most, so PLEASE do not look if you are young and easily scared, hence why i put the spoilers.
Okay.
So here goesss
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there was a beautiful maiden by the name of alice. She was truly a beautiful girl, and the affection of many guys all around
WP1hfj.gif

She loved to run, and it was a surprise to no one that she was running around the fields of the town. Her short ebony hair seemed to sparkle in the wind as she ran.
I_wdXJ.gif

Eventually though, realizing that she was panting hard, she decided that she MUST stop, lest her legs give out before she walks home. Taking a deep breath, Alice jogged to her small home.
"Man, i REALLY regret doing that now," Alice mumbled under her breath, for she had packed no diet coke for her on her journey. Her mouth was so dry by this point, and in her heart she wondered if she could go on.
Z5TIE2.gif

But at that moment she only reminded herself that the diet coke was waiting for her in the fridge.

Panting, she finally made it to her old mossy door that she had grown to know so well. Exhausted, she pushed open the door. She sighed of relief.
"KAIAA I'M HOME," she yelled to her roommate while walking in. "I COMMAND YOU TO GET ME A DIET COKE THIS INSTANT."
fJ6vSn.gif

She rested her tired limbs on the couch, however no diet coke appeared in her hand. Not only that, but Kaiaa had not once replied to her the entire time she was here.
"Stupid piece of. . " Alice muttered as she walked to the refrigerator. But the instant she walked into the kitchen her face was painted with horror at the sight that was in front of her. . .
