(General Nendoroid discussion encouraged as well!)

So, I'm pleased to announce that with the pre-order of both the Yuri Katsuki and Victor Nikiforov nendos, I am going to begin my collection! I've been curious about them for awhile now, but I didn't have a steady income when ones from my favorite animes were being produced, and now that I do, I finally see a set that I'm interesting in collecting. I feel like the YOI ones will be a huge hit too, given the popularity of the show, and I'm really stoked to see how the Yuri Plisetsky one comes out! (He is my baby so I'll be ordering him for sure.)

Seeing as how these figures come with so many extra parts, limbs, faceplates, etc, I was curious how any of you collectors on here like to store your figure parts. Do you keep them in the original boxes? Did you get special storage bins for them? Do you have any recommendations for me starting out as a collector?

Let's chat!

my wishlist (so far):
-L from death note
-N from pokemon
-Panty from PSG
-Isabelle from ACNL <3
-Sebastian from Black Butler
-Elias from Bride of the Ancient Magus
-Celty from DRRR!!

sorry idk about collecting nendoroid, but while we're on the topic, my mom actually got me one for my birthday last year :D it was the hatsune miku orchestra version. she got it from amazon so im surprised it wasnt a fake one. its sooo cute even though im sad her hair is more green than its usual turquoise, but thats just the design. next up im getting the kirby one, but since its limited edition or something its really expensive anywhere. also planning to buy the original hatsune miku one and then ill probably stop. most nendoroids are based off anime and i dont watch any :/ also you have to be rolling in the dough if you wanna be a nendoroid collecter, which i am not :p

keeping the original boxes is the only true way of figure collecting

and funny enough, I was just recently thinking about there being a nendo thread for the site

ps I have way too many of these things

I have storage containers for the extra parts that I bought at Michael's art supply store. It's meant for beads and stuff, but it holds all the tiny extra parts, which I also keep in plastic jewellery baggies (opened, not sealed - too prevent the waxy bloom from forming on the PVC plastic that the nendo is made of), and then put snuggly into the small compartments. I'll try to upload a picture another day if you would like. I have a huge nendoroid collection ^_^

I wouldn't say i'm "rolling" but i certainly have enough that i could save up for a few choice ones! my only urgency in ordering the YOI ones is that the predictions will be that the pre-orders for them will fill the production run, so i'd rather not risk it. i need my gay ice babies!

I guess i could get a file box or something for the boxes themselves and look into craft boxes for the individual parts...thank you guys for the advice! i'd love pics of how you store them Arize, and I'd love to see both of your collections too!

I know a guy who just wanted to buy like a Haruhi or a Nico nendoroid a couple years ago.

Anyway he's got like 30 of them now.

I'll post some pictures for you later on then ^_^ Always nice to see someone else interested in nendoroids! Some of my friends unfollowed me on my Instagram because I'd take pictures of my collection and they thought it was creepy and weird and a waste of time and money. So I'm glad to see there are people like me out here!

LOL I can totally relate to that guy! I started off with just Iron Man and Spiderman. Then I saw Snow Miku (I forgot which year..) Had to have her and said, it would be the last one. But then.. I couldn't stop. Haha!

I'm not sure how old you are, but I found that as I got older, the people I chose as friends were far more accepting of my interests that differed from theirs, which was nice. My normal friends were accepting of my furry activities/artwork, and I was accepting of whatever they were into. don't ever feel ashamed of liking the things that you do! it's not a waste of money if you enjoy it, so long as you're financially stable enough and fulfill your monetary obligations like rent and bills first ^^

I'm 25, and I've had a lot of judgemental friends, which is why most of my friendships don't last too long haha. People seem to think that because I'm an adult, I shouldn't be playing video games, or collecting toys, or colour in colouring books, etc. And for some reason, they always have something to say about what I spend my money on, saying I'm wasting it on useless things. But I'm incredibly responsible with money and always have only spent my spare money on the things I love. I don't let them deter me from loving what I love, but it does irk me to lose friendships over something so dumb. :p But then again, they aren't really friends if that's all it takes for them to leave. I'm not too sad about it!

Okay! Picture time ^_^

So here is a picture of the container. You can see that everything is wrapped with the plastic baggies, but I've left them unsealed so they don't get the weird coating from not having enough oxygen in storage: http://imgur.com/M6nS78P

Where I keep all the storage containers (in a hidden compartment in my coffee table). They're very easy to store!: http://imgur.com/X672tbk

Now for my collection! (Forgive how dark and blurry the pictures are!)

Shelf with some of my faves like the Snow Mikus, Kill la Kill, and random cuties: http://imgur.com/O9YqBch
Shelf with other faves like Attack on Titan nendos, Black Rock Shooter: http://imgur.com/om3bv4d
Another favourites shelf: http://imgur.com/P1UjdPn
And my favourite shelf ever, my Legend of Zelda shelf, with a few amiibo, figmas, and RAH figure: http://imgur.com/lFhIflY

It truly is a joy to collect these! I hope you have fun ^_^

And yeah, I swear 50% of all Nendoroids are Vocaloids! Haha :p

HOLY CRAP YOUR LINK SHRINE IS BEAUTIFUL

So, in terms of me buying older nendos that are no longer being produced, do you have recommendations for websites that are safer when looking for authentic nendos rather than bootlegs? (I'm looking at all the listings for Sebastian and they're suspiciously cheap.)

YES! Please look at http://www.amiami.com . It's a Japanese site which sells at the most decent prices you'll probably find, unless you're lucky. Better to buy multiple in one shipment because shipping will be more expensive when you ship only one. But it's still cheaper than buying from a scalper online, or from a store in NA which sells nendoroids at crazy prices. I bought my Snow Miku at a figure store in Canada for a few hundred dollars when I was still a new collector and didn't know what they were worth. On amiami, you could buy it for $80. They sell used figures there too, so you will be able to get your out of production nendos, if you stalk the site daily. They grade the used ones, and I have gotten a grade B one and it was still perfect. Only the box had a dent. All the nendoroids are guaranteed authentic.

There's also https://earth.mandarake.co.jp/shop/ that sells exclusively second hand. Just pay attention to the ratings they give the figures. This is a good site to get really old nendoroids. I've seen the Death Note ones get sold here before I even wanted them. Also guaranteed to be authentic :)

Amiami is my first choice though! Be very very wary of cheap nendoroids on eBay. Most likely they are fake.

No problem! I'm glad to help :) I'm really excited for you too!! Can't wait to see your collection grow! Good luck! ^_^

I'm scared to get into them might end up being to addicting for me since I already collect funko pops lol. Also do nendoroids action figures go up in value as the years goes by cause if I do start collecting them I will only collect Dbz and Naruto figures as well as Kill La Kill figures.

Also does any one know of a good website that I can purchase nendorids figures from if I ever decide to start collecting them.

If you look at the previous posts on this thread, Arize gave me some really great resources to start out my collection!

I'm not sure if all of them increase in value, but it looks like ones from popular shows that are no longer being made do run rather pricey, so if you were looking to collect from the shows you mentioned, seems like there's a chance of it!
