ah waitrose is widely regarded amongst brits as the posh people's grocery store. look up the facebook page "overheard in waitrose " and look at some of the older posts (recently i think people have just started to make stuff up) but it's funny to laugh at people who are just so british

Yeah maybe not. And eliminate London and you are essentially left with a choice between Chav land, Old people land, Posh people land and racist farmer land (mainly the latter)

ah mama holmes, she's basically my spirit animal. And i guess a there's a fair few americans on this site. At least i hope those who didn't get it weren't british 0_o

ah well, i'll read deeper into it. And yes! The holmes family scenes were the best. It's always good to have a little lighthearted humour around the brothers, especially when you consider the not so lighthearted reasons they resent eachother. Can't wait until the climax comes with Mary, i feel like it will finally give purpose to so much of season 3 if they do it well (and i have faith that they will)

I see where you're coming from and the scene in Sherlock's mind blew me away. Just I think it could have been set up to make more sense. It feeks like they came up with this amazing scene first and were then like "oh wait why did she shoot him? oh never mind. just wing it and the scene will carry it through" and yes, total logic would be boring
I also think we're on similar pages in terms of theories about Mary. I just hope they wrap up her little part with something that is intriguing and makes sense within the plot soon. She's a fascinating character, but her time is come and there's really not much else they can do with her in my opinion

would have made much more sense for her to just go "look m8 i'm cool, I'm killing magnussen for you. Oh and don't tell john pweeze" but I guess they wanted a big plot twist you'd never expect and to do that fancy scene in Sherlock's mind to show off how creative and edgy they are with their scripting.
Don't get me wrong, I liked the scene plenty and was genuinely shocked by mary being an assassin but- logic anyone?

I think mary was a very interesting character and loved her role in the plot (plus the actress who plays her who's name I've sadly forgotten is wonderful) but I agree. I'd like to see her pop up every now and then for the sake of continuation but in the books and Sherlock lore in general she is not a focus and nor should she be. It's Sherlock, john and the crimes when you get down to it and the little soap opera that came along with Mary, well, I've had enough thanks

totally agree with you. that's why I still love Sherlock, moffat's influence isn't as profound and we have incredible writers (gatiss and Thompson) at the forefront of it's progression. but if moffat manages to slither his way into pioneering Sherlock with less of an influence from those two, I will be very sad. I do believe that moffat can be a genuinely good writer but his personality is just a killer for so many good ideas and scripts. as you said, he just wants to get attention really and so many of his elaborately stupid side plots and "plot twists" are borderline ridiculous. I swear if next season of Sherlock moriarty turns out to be john and Mary's son from the future who has travelled through dimensions to seek revenge because *insert inexplicably childish, ridiculous and long winded reason here*

just started reading the valley of fear, can't believe I didn't get into these books sooner! And I love the TV show. sadly moffat seems intent on ruining it, a trend that is becoming sadly prominent in good ol' british TV *cough* doctor who *cough*
