Regarding Vampire Knight, I'm honestly not sure because I don't read manga to often, but I thought it was a pretty descent show so even if it's off it'd still be worth the watch if you ask me

Well, the crossed blades could totally work! A jolly roger has the thick pirate swords on it, plus the skull, so a pair of crossed fencing blades seems like it would be obvious that it's not pirate-related (to me, anyway). The "En guarde!" could be really cool, though. Hm. I am sure it will figure itself out. I am like you, in that I have an easier time deciding what to put once I decide where I'm putting it. ^_^

Oh wow, those all sound great! My first was the one on my calf and it's my favorite comic book character. The one on my back is my 'controversial piece', it's the original Air Force logo with my husband's name between the wings. We got matching ones for our first anniversary and people everywhere love to tell me how stupid I am. Ha ha! The chest piece is actually a watercolor painting I had recreated into a tattoo.

Fencing! Sounds awesome! I don't think I know enough about it to give proper suggestions, but I bet you'll find something totally gnarly to do for it.

Yay ink! I only have 3. I have a simple piece on my right calf, one on my upper back just below my neck and a full chest piece. I just finished my chest piece in November. Next summer (boo, I hate waiting!) I'll be starting a full sleeve, probably down my right arm, I'm thinking. What about you? Do you have plans made for #5?
