Mkay so the only way that I know of is to do it this way. Get past the first part there and it'll show you about taking pictures of both of your screens, step 5 is where it starts I think. Hope that helps!

Yeah....they kind of force you to if you want to trade with people who have the update. Kind of urked me that they neglect to tell you that every house that you streepassed before the update completely disappears from your Happy Home Showcase so that sucks. The rest it pretty neat though.
Oh? Even after the amiibo update? I haven't had to do that. My gates are just kind of hanging open for you though so no worries.
