He's supposed to be takoyaki! One of the ingredients is octopus, lol.

It's a savory ball-shaped food made by pouring batter around pieces of octopus. There's a brown sauce on top, and bonito flakes to garnish.

Oh, so that's called Takoyaki! We get it from the local sushi shop, and mum and I just called them "Octopus balls", lol...
They're very yummy!
