Has anyone else been watching this? I just started today. I've watched some of Ikuhara's other works (Revolutionary Girl Utena, Penguindrum), but this man has never ceases to amaze with his seemingly endless bounty of ambiguous symbolism and homoeroticism.
Unfortunately not. I loved Utena and really want to watch Penguindrum next, but I'm kind of busy and don't really have a way to watch anime right now haha. I might watch it over the summer since I'm planning on watching Penguindrum over spring break.
I've been watching it (just the first 5 so far though)! I loved Utena and I guess I liked Mawaru Penguindrum for the most part (Ringo is kind of creepy).
At the moment, I'm not thinking too much the symbolism and intricate details. First watch through should be the most fun, although a lot of people seem surprised or confused by the ending of each episode. I think it has a very poetic structure and flows really well.
Each episode has been fun so far :3
I'll probably get the two bears or make my own at some point.
I have yet to watch both Utena and Penguindrum but both are sitting on my computer, just waiting for me to start them. Symbolism is neat and all but not something I put much thought into unless I REALLY love the series or it resonates with me on a deeply personal level, so I'm not really sure what to expect on that front. But yeah, I guess I'll be watching this one day as well! Putting it on the list~
Penguindrum and Utena were really good though! So I should probably check it (yurikuma) out soon. The only thing I know about the show can be summed up in that 15 second clip of a bear sitting in the dark singing the shabada thing and then thunder/lighting, lol. It was stuck in my head for days.
