Pokémon Your Pokemon Team?

I've always just picked my favourite pokemons for my team, without caring for weaknesses, type balance etc. Lately I've gotten more into team building, and I'm currently in the progress of picking out pokemons I want for my team. So I'm really interested in hearing which pokemons you all have on your teams? Also, do you use your team for competitive battle?

Depends. My regular team for when I play the main story is basically whatever I like, so long the team has a Flyer on it.

My current Battle Tower team in ORAS is a Truant Durant team.

It really depends on what I can train. Right now, it's Salamence, Shiftry, Beedrill, Gengar, Hoopa, and Vileplume.

I used this team for competitive battle in Pok?mon Y:

They were really good at countering talonflames, greninjas, and garchomps which would show up in almost every team.

Ingame I just use whoever's cutest or I find really cool. For instance, my last team in SoulSilver that I just played with was Typhlosion, Victreebell, Heracross, Togetic, Kingler, and Poliwrath. Didn't evolve the Weepinbell/Poliwhirl until the end, I was gonna need it!

As for the cesspool of misery that is "Competitive" Pokemon Battling, I really like to still use the ones I like, but not like ones that don't stand a chance so I can pull the "you only beat me because yours are meta!" when I lose, haha. Typically something like Bisharp, Venusaur (Mega), Garchomp, and from there usually a Heatran, Terrakion, or whatever I'm interested in right then.

As you can tell, this wasn't a very competitive team.

I'm replaying Y right now, and I've decided on Fennekin, Squirtle, Mawile, Drifloon, Gible and Flabebe for my fun one xD I always keep my starter and I don't like using an HM slave, so it kind of limited my choices. I used to go all-cute for my teams but it makes it difficult to beat later gym leaders like dragon etc.
