(Your Opinion): Do you think a town needs paths?

Nope. I don't see a reason for them myself. My town is wild and I intend to keep it that way.

Paths in general are far from necessary. I've seen plenty of nice-looking towns without paths. But I use them since it helps me organize the layout of my town a bit better.

As for using path patterns, I think some look neat. I tend to prefer the simpler stuff, though complex patterns can look really nice as well. Though there's just something about natural dirt paths that I really like. I hope to eventually take off the path pattern I'm using, leaving just a dirt trail below.

No you don't NEED them, but I get really confused in towns without them because I get lost. Its so much easier when you can just follow paths.

I don't think it's NEEDED to have a nice looking town, but I do think paths do improve the town's overall appeal if placed correctly.

I have paths in my town, but I do have a lot of greenery as well. If its not balanced enough, a town doesn't look that great to me, just to be honest.

Another reason I like paths in towns is because it gives a town uniqueness so easily because of the wide variety of paths and the limitless options. Yeah, PWP make tons individual, but everyone has the ability to unlock the same PWP. But paths, however, can be completely unique to your town if you choose to do so.

I use paths because I love customizing my town in that way. I don't think it's strictly necessary- but it's a game, so what is? But I do wonder why this seems to be such a divisive issue on these forums?

I don't think it's necessary, but I personally don't like the look of the dirt in New Leaf. I liked it in City Folk, my town had lovely dirt paths bordered by flowers; but I tried it in NL and the color of the dirt is just....ugh. I like a more natural look so I made myself a set of simple paving stones that I'll change out seasonally. (I'm so tired from this cold i just realized I lied because I did make a flower border by town hall.)

i do like seeing the amazing stuff people do with the paths in other towns though, it can be really pretty!

Yes, if there is tonnes of grass wear, but paths shouldnt be in excess so that theres no patches at all yet

agree with that - I don't get it. No paths are fine, QR paths are fine, self-designed paths are fine.

I would love to have paths that looks like just natural dirt paths but I know that grass regrows over that and I have yet to find a QR of a design like that. ;-;

But I don't think you need them, however I think you should have some sort of way as to directing others about your town. For example make outlined paths of flowers or bushes idk, but it sometimes is hard to maneuver through a town without some sort of guide.

I think they look beautiful and add colour to the town. There's a lot of creative and well done paths out there. I have this cute path in my town but its pretty underdeveloped but when I get my ideal town ill expand it

Get Paths asap from QR codes or something, I can help you place them if you want good placement for them. ;P (no cost, I like decorating towns)

@BronzeElf, are you sure? I have a pattern already stored in my designs. Whenever i try to place them it fails, so if you are good that would be great :) are you sure you dont want anything tho? I wont be online now as its too late (for me anyway) but ill be around in the morning.

Yeah all three options are fine- none is better or more unique than the other. *shrug* All are creative decisions- all are okay.

I hate paths, they tend to make the game look fake and the ruins the textural surface of the surroundings completely.

I don't really like paths, myself. I stayed up until nearly 7 am putting paths in up in my town a few weeks ago, and then ended up staying up that late again because it didn't exactly look right, and someone moved in right on top of the path, and I just couldn't understand the point of making paths if people are just going to ruin them by moving on them.

The natural dirt paths are really neat looking, I'll probably pull up a lot of my path's branches when the grass underneath wears away more.
