title says it all. for those of you who reset with intent, what aspects would make a town The One for you?
personally when i am resetting, one of the most important factor is fruit type. my favorite fruits are oranges and apples, but i can live with cherries. i suppose i could live with pears too granted the rest of the town had something really impressive, but i never have. i absolutely would never keep a town whose fruit was peaches, and i only grow them in my current town because it seems like every villager and their mother wants a darn peach!
second most important to me is beach location. a right facing beach if not an immediate deal breaker begins to wear me down and is a big factor when i consider restarting a town. i also love tiny secret beaches, but they are not at all necessary.
as for buildings, a retail or town hall in the bottom half of the screen is an absolute deal breaker. i 100% cant deal with buildings that big and obtrusive being in the way of foot travel. it always amazes me how my borther is the opposite way, always aiming for those buildings as low as possible, and his house as high on the screen as you can go.
as for grass shape, i only became aware of it recently, and while it would be nice to have round grass it just never seems to happen.
for overall layout, an unobtrusive river is a big factor. a river that trisects the town can reduce space and usability so much. i absolutely hate it.
when it comes to starter villagers, while i appreciate having nice ones, its really OK to me to have five villagers i actively dislike. new people start to flow in very quickly, and i usually make a friend in the first few days. when you have limited options, villagers you arent a fan of start to look a little more attractive [personality wise too i dont just mean design wise].
what would be the recipe for your perfect town?

I remember a similar thread around the time just before the release when all we had was the Japanese images :) These were my requirements for my town when I started;
- cherries as town fruit
- triangle grass!
- beach on the right (I'm right handed and it made sense to me)
- small private beach but only a tiny one
- town hall near the train station, retail near the town square. All of them nearby each other if at all possible (I ended up getting them all pretty close which I was so happy about)
- villagers I really wasn't bothered about but I will admit that I had hoped to get an octopus starter villager and a deer starter. I ended up with 3 cats and I remember seeing the screen and being so frustrated but I loved the rest of the town.

I like triangle and circle grass. Since I already have triangle grass in Pripyat, I want circle grass the next time I reset. I do NOT want a green or blue train station and I do NOT want a green town hall. Any other color is fine. (I prefer the original buildings to the upgraded PWP versions, so color is important to me.) Since I already have cherries in Pripyat, I hope my second town will have apples or peaches. However, if everything else is what I want, I won't be upset if I'm stuck with something else. I don't care what side the beach is on or if I have a private beach or not. I don't care too much about the waterfall this time. As far as the land goes, I'm open to almost anything. I just don't want a thin strip of land up top or on the side. I'm not too picky about the number of ponds, either. I just don't want them clumped together if I have two or more. I'd prefer the plaza and town hall to be somewhat close together. I don't mind where Re-Tail is.

I think that covers everything! :) I will restart over and over until I get what I want. I always do! :p

*Retail near beach
*Cleanly bisected by river
*At least two decent villagers

Everything else is negotiable. My second town's brown train station roof used to bug me, but it's all Zen-style now :)
