Landscaping, laying paths and using other designs to decorate the ground. In one of my old towns I focused more on unlocking things and getting villagers I liked but then one of them, I decided to put the villagers on hold and landscape first, but it annoyed me having villagers plot right in the middle of flower patches. My current town I'm going back to doing my villagers first, but all the while I'm itching to decorate.
Being able to do my daily routine everyday; hitting rocks for bells, digging up fossils, hitting the faux rock and checking out what's in store. It motivates me to play everyday, knowing I can get one step closer to my catalog's completion. And to also make money on a whim in the daily rinse and repeat.
My favorite thing to do in ACNL is the interaction with the villagers. Sometimes I catch them sleeping on a tree stump or a bench, other times I catch two villagers in one home, etc. It's really easy to fall into the grinding aspect of this game and I'm slowly reverting back to just playing the game as opposed to trying to make the perfect town asap. I also enjoy having friends over or doing island tours with them. Lately, I've also been really into visiting dream addresses. To get inspired or just see how creative people are with their own towns.
