How people can actually think Twilight Princess and Wind Waker actually take place in the same timeline despite Nintendo already saying they were on different timelines branching out from OOT.

Kids these days are ignorant and will always say they're right, no matter what the facts say.

Windwaker takes place, I believe 200 years after the Ocarina of time. They never really touched up on when Twilight Princess took place, but it seems to have taken place way before the Windwaker, seeing how Hyrule wasnt covered totally in water. Plus you meet the king from the windwaker, so them being at the same time makes no sense. I think personally Twilight was inbetween.

The timeline splits in half because of the time travelening at the end of OOT.
Basically Zelda split the timeline in half, the Hyrule Link left behind (Which later became Wind Waker) And the Hyrule he went back to as a child (Which later became Twilight princess) This was prooven when in an interview Aounuma or Miyamoto, stated that Twilight Princess was an alternate future to Wind Waker.A
Aonuma and Miyamoto give out small clues about the timeline in interviews alot, mostly Aonuma though.

Basically Zelda split the timeline in half, the Hyrule ]This is just a theory. Yes it somewhat splits in half, but the one half only goes on for Majora's Mask. The rest is up for debate. Most of what people get the timelines from is theories from other fans.

Miyamoto said in an interview that the timeline was just his theory. He said when creating the games they never put much thought into the timeline itself.

Don't you just love games no matter how great they are with confusing timelines ala Adventures of Zelda series or Castlevania is another.
