No,this isn't a game...

You know when the forum is dead when the top poster only has 30 posts for the day, and that go posts is about 5% of the total posts for today. 30 posts a day used to be an average number of posts in a day! That means for the last 24 hour we've only had about 600 posts. That's like 25 posts an hour, which is pitiful considering I used to get 25 posts an hour easy, and that was just me. So I'm wondering, why is the forum so dead, I know AC has been dead for a while, but we've still done pretty good up until now, and there's a freaking new pokemon game out now, members should be talking it up. I know this forum has gone through some low periods before, but what's causing this sudden loss of interest now? I guess for me, it's the lack of members on, I haven't seen some of my good friends in a while like Chubsterr, Waluigi, Coffeeaddict87, Mickey, djman93, ACROX, Darthgohan, Pala][n, and a bunch of others. I'm seeing less and less of my other friends like, Coffeebean, Silverstorms, Cornymike, Trela, Hub12, Tom(more or less), Rawb, Xela, Andy, Pootman, and even more others(forgive me if I forgot to mention your name, I'm just looking at some old PM's) There are a few friends that I stay in touch with by other means, which is why I haven't posted them(I contact Ryudo through Skype, and xYoh on another forum) I stay in touch with. But amung other things, what happened to all the old veterans that used to come here like furrysparks, dragonflamez, mino, and heck, even fabio? Those guys used tobe the life of the party, whatever topic they posted used to get a ton of posts, and that's what kept members on...I dunno why I bothered posting this stuff, I guess I'm just venting a little, but things seemed, I guess I just miss the old TBT, the TBT where the IRC was filled with people and good talk, the TBT where there were like 1,000+ posts a day, the TBT where there weren't a million name changes, the TBT that had an occasional flame war, the TBT that I when I refreshed there would be a new topic made, the TBT that seems to be gone now.

I blame HeartGold and SoulSilver for being so damn good.

As for everything pre-HeartGold and SoulSilver, I dunno. But I miss the variety of people. :L

The strength of a forum lies within the strength of the community; or its members. I see exactly what you're talking about John. When you take a good look at the number of active members now, it has dwindled a little since the beginning of the year.

But I'm not ready to give up on this forum just yet. Maybe today is just an off-day where everyone has stuff going on? I dunno, but I do know that I greatly miss that tight community on The Bell Tree.

This.

I prefer the forum the way it is now, it was spammy before. Also half of the posts at the beginning of the year were going into the MMC club with it's members constantly telling everyone what they were up to every second of the day.

Eh, it happens. There was a while before City Folk where I wondered if it would even survive to see City Folk...

In the end, maybe a dozen or so members will hang around until the next Animal Crossing comes out, at which point this place will flood with activity again, and the members who were here before that will be lost in a sea of members. Long-forgotten staff members will triumphantly return to the forums, seeing a new period of business to try and control, and feel as though they're the Gods of TBT, despite the fact that many left in it's darkest hour. And in the end, the few who stayed to keep this place alive will lose what roots they had left here, and drift off, leaving this place to all the new members. Some will simply leave quietly, some will fight to keep the "old TBT" alive, but in the end, this place is just gonna forget all about you and what TBT used to be. You'll find you're probably not wanted here, and you have no place here any longer... But maybe, just maybe, you'll stay anyways. And then you'll realize, you've been following in my footsteps all along.

I agree. I prefer it this way.

Kind of this. The only thread I've been posting in are just HG/SS threads, nothing else merely interests me :L .

That's right, you've lived through all of this before haven't you? I forgot that some of the older members had alt accounts and still got on every now and then.

@Everyone who like how things are now; I agree with you on some aspects like less spam and whatnot, but when most of the 'noobs' left so did other members who were regulars and people I considered my friends. Like Pootman said, I miss the tight knit community that we used to have, and although we still in a sense have one, I think it was the variety that really gave TBT its life, and I think that's what I really miss about the place.

My internet is *****ing a lot these days, either way AC is getting boring and I was never interested in forums that much.

Cmon, it's not that dead, right? Either way all AC forums die out eventually because the game's boring. No matter how fun the community is. Sorry to burst your bubble, but it's true.

Yeah, I don't think TBT is anywhere close to dying.

There are plenty of people on. They're just not posting as much.

Things dwindling in popularity always make me sad. =(

But judging from what others have said/the awesomeness factor, I think TBT will rise again!
Not that it's really completely dead at the moment.

What use is a forum if no one posts? I guess this isn't really a TBT is dead topic, but more of a cry out for the old TBT topic...

I blame Pally not getting on today. :)

Haha, could be =P

You were here through most of TBT's existence, did you like the high activity times when ACWW, and ACCF came out, or did you prefer the in between periods? Did you have any close bonds with people that left the forum(Smart?) I'm just wondering, because I assume you've been through TBT's high and lows.

The activity boom was great (nice to meet all of you awesome newbies), but I think TBT has always been the best in the in-between periods when there was a really tight sense of community.

I think Gethsemane nailed it right on the head with his post. That will most likely be the continuos cycle of just about any forum, but as long as people keep posting we don't have to worry about it dying anytime soon. This is a lot more active than it was right before it almost died before City Folk came out. A new AC comes out, and activity will boom again, perhaps more than we've ever experienced before.

I do miss some of the older members. I know how to contact most of them, but there are a few (like Smart) whom I don't know how to contact, and I really do miss them a lot.

BTW, how did you know about Smart?

It's also a really slow time of year. Hopefully activity will grow again once summer rolls around.

Well it's not that hard to figure out about him.
