So I did a little experiment with turnips. I bought a whole bunch of them and waited for the next day to come. Since I TT'ed to get the turnips the time turned out to be like 3 am in the game. So I opened another resident of my town (So NOT the mayor) and I TT'ed from 3:29 am to 3:29pm. Saved and quit and opened my mayors save file and my turnips were perfect. I'm going to try TT'ing bigger amounts of time some time later.

Going forward with turnips is fine. Its going backwards that's the problem. Another note, the turnips will only spoil from the last time you saved. Say if it was Friday 3pm and I saved the game. On Saturday 9am, I set the time back to Friday 4pm, they would still be fine.

You know only backward TT'ing while cause turnip spoil immediately? Also, If you TT forward more untill you reach the point where you've your turnips for a week they will also spoil.

Sorry to be pedantic but do you mean: Friday 3pm you save the game.
On saturday 9am - in real life time you change the time on the console back to Friday 4pm?

To generalise so long as you don't go back over a past save, yes you can go back in time with turnips and they won't spoil - but be very careful that you have not gone back over a past save.

You can sell turnips in another town set on a different date & time to your own.
The 7 day turnip rule applies to where you bought the turnips.

Where I am unsure about: I have always bought my turnips in my own town and thus know exactly how long I have before they spoil.
I have never bought turnips in another town (can you even do that?) set on a different date & time to my own - what happens to the turnips when I bring them back to my town? Do they spoil? (I'm playing in the past) and even if they didn't I would have to remember to count the 7 days. To confusing for me.

Well, yeah real life time. Its like if you don't touch your game for a few weeks. You can just time travel back to the date you last touched it, its last save. Simple as that. But yes, don't go before the time you last saved, that spoils it. I normally write the time and date down on my game notes or on the billboard (and load a new save if I need to check while time traveling for whatever reasons, like for my villagers). Then I load up my mayor about 2 - 5 mins from the last save just in case.

Yes, going to another town is fine. But the rule applies (without any time traveling backwards) when the time hits or after Sunday 6am. All turnips will spoil, no matter the age. It's nothing to do about age from what I have experienced.

Yes you can buy from another town, I do it a lot and let others buy from my town. No, they wouldn't spoil when you get back.

I love my turnips.
