You can see what DIYs and items are on surfaces in dreams!

So I made a post a long time ago because I was sad that you had to pick things off of tables on someone's island just to see what it was so it kind of made the use of stalls and tables for "free diy" sections and stuff like that kind of useless. But I went to a dream and you can see what the items on surfaces are just by standing in front of it now! Can someone confirm that this is also now possible on someone else's island online now, and not just for dreams? Because if this was fixed, I can now finally have a free item section and know that visitors will have an easier time with it ^_^

I noticed that as well. I don't have many visitors or visit other players very often, so I can't confirm it works out side of dreams. I sure hope it does. One thing I haven't bothered trying in dreams is learning DIYs. It's probably not possible, but I am curious as to what happens if you try it.

Actually you didn't have to pick the item up to see what it was, you could just hover over it, since the start of the game. However you also have to not be "talking"/using the speech bubble, so maybe that's why it didn't work for you? It always worked for me, and like I said I had to wait for my last said word bubble to vanish before getting the thought bubble of what was in front of me. Does that make sense?

Actually, this never worked in online mode (when you visit other islands or someone visits you). It only worked when you were in your own town. That's probably what you experienced. But it was confirmed through my old thread that it was not a feature that worked when not in your own town, which is what irked me, because I felt it was more necessary for online than offline.

No, it worked for me in online mode. I would always check items on the ground when I trade before I pick them up to make sure they are what I bought (both as a visitor and host). Maybe there is a glitch involved? So weird, because I swear I am able to see items on the ground, even when not on my own island (since the beginning of the game)!

I also would use this to look at DIYS on the ground when visiting someone.

It wasn't items on the floor, it was specifically items on things like tables, Stalls, etc. that didn't have the bubble appear when you're next to them. That eventually got patched in.

Oh yeah, it worked for items on the ground. What I mean is when an item is on a table. You have to pick it up to see what it is. In your own town, you can stand in front of a table with a DIY on it, and the bubble pops up with the item name. In someone else's town, it doesn't work. But you're right, it works in both cases if the item is on the ground. Sorry if I worded it in a confusing way! I'm very sleepy lol.

Wow really? I guess I just haven't played online for a long time lol. Well either way, I'm glad it was patched in ^_^
