I've never gone looking for either the the tarantula or scorpion, but I've managed to catch both on each of my 8 characters I think. I might be missing one on a char but after the past week of them I doubt it! I have most of them displayed in my houses, the only catchables I display lol.

Seeing a scorpion is quite startling for me whenever I do, but I love tarantulas! So fuzzy and cute and totally harmless! I was aware that being bitten by them made you respawn outside your house as same thing happened in AC:WW. Also te same is tht they don't race up to attack you unless you're carrying your net, or you step really close to them. I like a challenge so I always try to catch them, and I always have my net and fishing line on me so I'm prepared for any happy accidents.

I have a pretty open town with not a lot (usually) on the ground, which means they spawn more often. So if you're struggling to catch them and you've checked you're in the right season and time of day, then try heading to those clear areas. I got bitten by a surprise scorpion on my event plaza last night, which is when I learned they could spawn there.. the more you know!

I caught one last night, didn't need it as already donated last year so kept it in my lounge lol

Still haven't managed to find a scorpion or a tarantula, I keep trying to search around for one when I can, but I've had no luck as of yet. I remember that I caught one in my very first town when it was released in the UK. I haven't managed to catch one since my restarting addiction took over, but I'm keeping this town for good (hopefully).

Scorpion is the only one I need to catch but I may never because my town is fully designed, filled with nature all around, even on the ground

I turned on my game at 11:30 last night for the sole purpose of looking for tarantula and the scorpion and found both. The tarantula was in the town square just sitting there giving me a false sense of composure and I slowly walked up and threw out my net... right in front of the bug who then bit me. Then after waking up in my doorway where one of my villagers must have put me, I went inside and came back out to look for the bugs again and when I went up by the train station a scorpion zoomed by so fast I couldn't do anything.
