Xbox Live problems

I got a Xbox 360 for Christmas and Halo 3. I try to play online sometimes, and I get a lot of lag. I tried playing with a friend and got an error saying I need to open my NAT settings. I can get to my routers page and change settings, but I don't want to change something important. That is why I'm asking here for help. I have a Linksys wireless router if you need to know, and my Xbox is connected to it with an ethernet, not wireless.

Also, I play other things online with better connections. I played WoW this morning, I can play ACCF online, and I used to play Maplestory with no problems.

What do I need to change to play Halo 3 better.

Best to get a Wireless Adapter, it gets rid of most lag. A bit pricey though.

i have the wirless adapter i always have full bars and no lag.....the only problem is they range from $80-$110
