I really wanted to buy the new installment of Skylanders (Superchargers) for my brother because he really wants to play as the Bowser Skylander/Amiibo but apparently he's only available on the 3ds starter pack but I want the wiiu version. now I'm stuck, should I buy both versions just for bowser? I would do that if the 3ds version is different and is worth buying. note that in my country each version is sold for at least 100 usd. my brother suggested that i buy the wiiu game from the eshop since it's cheaper and buy the starter pack for the 3ds version.
what do you suggest? :o

Tough question I haven't played a Skylander game in a long time and I am also considering buying the new supercharger game since I like racing games and all. If you have the money I would buy both of them lol, but if I have to choose only one I would get the 3ds version though since the 3ds is portable and all and you can take it any where ever you go.

Also I heard that once you place the Skylanders in the game you don't have to use the portal any more that's what I heard though I am not so sure if you still have to use it though.

You always need the portal regardless what platform you're playing on.

The 3DS/Wii versions are only a racing game called Superchargers Racing akin to Diddy Kong Racing and different from the console versions in a "stripped down" way. The console versions (Wii U/PS4/etc.) contain the full experience, meaning the story, typical Skylanders gameplay, and the new racing element and subgame ontop it. It's really a cheap move by Nintendo and Activision, as huge of a Skylanders fangirl I am, to push more units by separating the Amiibo hybrids between games. I mean if racing is all you wanted, it's probably fine, but since it's really no more portable than other versions and it's already overpriced in your country, Wii U's the better deal.

If it were me I'd wait and see if Bowser is released separately or if you can find him used.

Hope that's helpful. c:
