I pretty much hate Nintendo for doing the region block on all of their new games. I went off post to the Italian game stop since the PX doesn't have crap for games but i bought LoZ Oot and damn thing didn't work. -_- so I called Nintendo about It and they said we will send you a new one, oh ya I had to pay for the same game twice. I don't even know if it'll get here before I goto afghanastan though.

I know it sucks... if it didn't exist, we could play AC3DS when it releases in Japan!

Yes it sucks but it's nbd imo

Region blocking is the gaming industry's version of cock blocking.
Get all excited for something, then wham! Region block.
it's gotta be the dumbest thing ever conceived for games. "We're going to make games so the world can enjoy them, but only this part of the world!"

Having said that, I went and bought a JP PSP so I could play MHP3, when it could have easily been translated(has with unofficial patches) and sold in the rest of the world. It's their way of making sure there is a line for them to stand on when developing games for a specific country in mind. Which is ********.

Also Bidoof, your acronyms are killing me. I have no idea what you're saying.

If you read my thread you would see what's so bad about it. I just explained it...

lol (laugh out loud)... He said No Big Deal (NBD) In my Opinion (IMO).

You'll need to learn your acronyms if your gonna be using the web as It's a very common way of communicating these days.

I'm not lazy enough to use acronyms. But I am lazy enough to not learn them.

But what is so bad about region blocking is that if the game never gets released anywhere else, nobody but the people in that country will ever get to play it. Aside from paying a ridiculous amount of money to get that country's game system to play said game.

Almost all of Nintendo's consoles have been region blocked, the only ones that weren't are the DS, but the DSi is region blocked with downloadable games. What makes the whole thing bad is that when games get developed, more than just that country learns about it. We're in a time where everyone is going to be interested, not just one specific country.

But when it comes down to the why, region locking is to prevent stuff like piracy and to maintain a single pricing range instead of having to change it for other countries. So instead of getting a game in your country where it would be (going to use US dollars as an example) 49.99$, another country would have it for 35.99$. So you would obviously want it for the 35.99$, because that's cheaper, which is where the region lock comes in. It prevents you from buying the game in another country to get it cheaper.
