So i have this playground area with sand, and i put an orange rose on it and it rained and reproduced (which i didn't know was possible... bc it's sand. whateves, tho).

anyway. just yesterday it rained again, and i walked past my orange roses and saw... a blue rose bud.(i'd send a picture but i can't.)
it's not my 1st blue rose because I bought some and cloned them myself (i... uh... well, my white-rose method didn't seem to work, soo....)
but it is the 1st blue rose that i've *technically* made.

anyway. I just had no idea that 2 oranges can make a blue :P or on sand for that matter haha

Can’t vouch for which genes it had (as I don’t know your flower’s pedigree) but you can get blues from oranges. In fact, in the early days of NH we had mystery islands that could produce hybrids that could further breed for easier “tough” flowers. If you were lucky enough to have roses as your native you could get orange roses that had a 6% chance for a blue! I got some of those orange roses from my bro, which is where I got my blues!

My native is pansies, actually
so basically there's like a super small chance of that happening? Lol I wanna make it a relic now haha

You don’t need to have native roses to get oranges with the potential for blues (my native on the island that I got my first from is hyacinths). But yes regardless it is still a very low chance of occurring.

On a somewhat related note somehow my mom has a small patch of black tulips that can produce purples. I thought they were only breedable from orange tulips lol i think she left some tulips in an odd position that created odd black hybrids

ah
i've made purple tulips from typical blacks. Works pretty well

I had a surprise blue rose from two oranges too! I wasn’t even trying to breed blue roses because I had already bought some from nookazon. Then after a rainy day, I had a blue rose from two random orange roses.
