Wouldn't it be great to have a create-your-own-animal-islander feature?

I dont see it happeing because it might render amiibo usless if you could recreate any villager, but it would be such great fun to have this option for those of us who like this kind of stuff! I see it causing drama, though. like someone claiming another person copied their villager or whatever. That shouldnt matter anyway, but i am just speculating XD

I don't see something like this implementing well into a mainline game. Too many limitations that would have to be put in place, especially since glitches and hacks are constantly coming up. It's a cool concept though! One I'd love to see in a spinoff.

Maybe you'd have a dream about somebody moving to town? And try to remember what they look like and acted like, and they magically appear in the campsite the next day?

Or Nook would call you one day and say somebody's asked to move in but he forgot who to meet at the airport. He assumes you invited them and you get to make it up on the spot (just like becoming mayor in NL). Do we think they were a... Elephant? Cat? No, a dog!
And what were they like? Snooty? Maybe lazy!
And their name? Can you draw a picture for him? (Or even answer questions about their personality to generate a face from pre-made options, like how character creation used to work)

You know what? I know said I couldn't see custom villagers in the game without breaking immersion, but this idea would... actually work for me.

I still can't say I would necessarily want this feature in a main game but if it was introduced like this it wouldn't bother me.

I could see this somehow being implemented as an external service. Like you create a fake/custom villager on an app or website, and then the game lets you use a "custom amiibo" that isn't really an amiibo card but lets you access this villager you designed. That way, you get to create them in the "god" sense, like the Sims, but it doesn't break your in-game narrative as a villager.

EDIT: I also think it would be like Nintendo's Mii Maker. You can't just draw the face, since the face will have to be animated. You get to choose species, personality, some eyes, nose or lack-there-of, mouth, colors, etc... and these options would already have variations for different facial expressions. Just how I imagine it would go, personally.

I feel like this could be an event with Blanca. During the first 2 weeks of april (or last two weeks of march if bunny day is within those 2 april weeks) Blanca would arrive and you could change her species, personality (also affects gender), face, and outfit, making your own 'custom' villager. The outfits would only include default designs, all the pro designs, and official outfits at the able sisters that you have catalogged (in all colors though). Only the natives of the town would be able to see the villager, Blanca- i mean the villager, leaves when the town gate is open. (not permanently, just for the duration of the gate being open) Of course this doesn't stop people from taking pics of the custom villager and posting them online.
