I recently ordered some amiibo cards, including Annalisa’s. I only met her in NH but she’s become one of my all time favourites. She was one of my starting villagers so she has a pretty basic house but I know she usually has a really nice japanese themed house. Would you personally have a starter villager, who you’re attached to, move out and then use the amiibo to bring them back?
I really want her proper house and it’s kind of silly but it makes me sad that she wouldn’t remember me and isn’t the same version of herself who was here from the start while I built up the island. She also happened to be the first villager who gave me her picture in NH.
It's actually pretty common for people to do this. I've never been in the same situation, but I know others who actually have other players "hold" their villagers for them in order to get their real houses.
I would be a little conflicted if I've built up a pretty good friendship with the villager, but I think it'll just be a slight inconvenience to build that back up, but in return, you'll get a house that's more suitable for that villager.
If I didn't get their villager picture, then yeah! If I like their proper house better, yeah!
There are a couple in my town that I wouldn't invite back, but I like rotating villagers. I don't mind seeing them leave. Especially since I do have the option to get them back easily in ACNH.
Yes - the difference between Filbert's actual house vs. starter lazy home was too much to ignore. However, the inverse can also apply to some characters where their real house is trash compared to the default starter home.
I started with Dom and Pashmina and honestly, I think I've made peace with the ****ty starter homes. I want to keep both of them but thinking of restarting from 0 friendship just for an interior is saddening. Maybe Nintendo will patch in an option one day to upgrade their homes, but if not, I'll survive.
I might actually consider doing this with Celia. I discovered that her house is actually super cool with white rattan furniture!!! Since I'm thinking about letting Diana go due to some annoying clothes she got from her previous island, and Celia's default house actually has a similar vibe, I might let her go and come back after a bit.
Also I have Boone who was a starter and although I have been gifting him a LOT of stuff in an effort to improve his home, I really like his default decor. I've grown to really love the big gorilla (which I never expected!) so maybe I'll bring him back.
Bottom line is, in New Horizons, my friendship with the villager doesn't seem to matter much. The lack of dialogue and the subtleties in our interactions are gone. I personally think it wouldn't make that much of a difference to have them be new villagers vs. ones I have known for weeks/months. Kinda sad
I think for now, if any of them decide to leave, I would do some island hopping and try to meet new people before bringing them back. There's so many villagers to meet!
Naw,I wouldn't do it.Heh,I don't even know what their real house interiors look like anyways.I'll take an established friendship with a villager over a house interior.
I had to do this with Biff cause I couldn't find someone to hold him for me
at first I considered doing it with Audie, too, but she is the first villager I reached max friendship with, so I think I'll just live with her starter house lol
so the only example of this going on for me right now is I got erik from a mystery island early on... currently i have aurora on my island too and their houses both feature ice furniture
Erik instead has the log cabin interior or the lazy's house from that original three and I like it 20000x better than his normal house
I'm doing this with Nan. I fell in love with her after having her as a starter and I feel she needs an upgrade after seeing how awesome her real house is. Because its not very expensive, I bought her amiibo. I just got her photo so now it's just a waiting game to move her out.
If I had Teddy’s amiibo I’d probably let him go for the improved house. It’d give me a chance to experience a new villager too.
But it really depends on the house since some are worse than the default. Peggy’s original isn’t bad from pics, but I still think I’d miss the peppy default if I let her go.
I don't think I would go to the trouble for just the house (though I think it's totally valid to do), but I would let them leave so I could meet new villagers and then eventually bring them back down the road with their authentic house.
i don't really like scoots actual home design so i think i'll let him stay in his starter home, also i got his picture so i really wouldn't want the friendship reset
I would do it if I missed the villager after moving them out or if I wanted to keep them long term.
I'm not planning on keeping any of my starters long term, but I bought Coach's amiibo card so I can invite him back if I want to.
