Worth it?

I'm thinking of getting a New 3DS XL or a 3DS XL and giving my brother my 3DS. The problem is, I have a lot of progress on the 3DS; Pokemon X and Tomodachi Life are both digital, I have a ton of friendcodes, and a lot of streetpasses and puzzle pieces. Would it be worth it to completely start over? My brother will most likely system restore the thing so his 3DS isn't called "Hannah". Is there also a way to transfer digital games over?

I'm like 90% sure there's a way to transfer the digital games but I've never done it so I'm not really much help I guess

But yeah I would definitely go for an xl, the normal 3ds is just too small imo.

Yeah, you can transfer digital games with your NNID to a new device, but I'm not sure about Streetpass data. Your digital purchases can only be on one system at a time, so they'd be wiped from the old device and your brother wouldn't be able to use them on the old 3DS.

Everything you mentioned will switch over to your new system if you do a system transfer. The only thing that might not transfer is the save data from your digital games. The games themselves will transfer, but I've heard of some people saying their save data was gone for those games. That's if you do a basic transfer, you can also do an SD card transfer where you actually use a computer to transfer everything from your old SD card to the new one, in which case I think the save data will be intact.

This is just what I've seen on forums, I just did the simple transfer myself because I had no digital games downloaded. But if I were you I'd just look online for a tutorial for the SD card transfer if that's what you want to do (unless you don't care about losing your save data for those games).

And as miruku said, if you do a transfer, the original 3DS will essentially be wiped clean, you won't have the games on both systems.

My brother won't mind about the games. He has a physical copy of Pokemon Y that he uses on mine, and doesn't play Tomodachi Life. I'm relieved that I can transfer games, now I just gotta learn how. Thanks everyone!
