Not that you have to but if you really really wanted to get the amiibo figures then you can purchase an NFC reader (it looks like a thick white disk) so that you can use amiibo figures and cards even if you don't have a New Nintendo 3DS. I don't have a new one either so that's what I use to scan the cards and stuff. I hope you find the items that you are looking for!

Edit: Btw, I have a Wii U console that you can have!
