Wisdom Teeth

You should be fine, just tell the dentist to give you a lot of numbing shots and laughing gas! And listen to your ipod/mp3 while they are doing it so it goes by faster and you don't have to listen to other sounds..... I haven't had my wisdom teeth taken out but last year I had to get a window in my gum (like a square cut out of my gum) so a tooth would come down, and it involved getting stitches in my gum, and i thought it would hurt ALOT but it didn't hurt at all. If you have a good dentist they should take care of you and make sure you have little to no pain :)

I swear I'm getting wisdom teeth coming through, I'll have to check properly.

Really? You don't want to know.

mine were impacted, i was in the hospital to get them out. there was a half inch of jawbone they had to remove to get to the teeth, kinda gross. the doctor will give you good drugs though.

Alright so what the general consensus appears to be is that, it will suck but not alot.

I didz some research on the internet and it usually only takes a few minutes and I think I only have two so it shouldn't take forever.

And sporge....don't scare me like that :D

OLD TOPIC BUMPAGE!

So, my surgery finally happend last saturday and I have to say..... I can't believe I got so nervous over something so simple. I went to the guy's office, signed some forms, then I was given a brief rundown on what the surgury was going to offer. The only real worry I had was the fact that there was a 20% chance of nerve damage and a .5% chance of permanent nerve damage.

I asked the surgion for my wisdom teeth before the operation as a souvenir and sure enough he obliged which was awesome. I'd also like to point out that my computer got the dreaded blue screen of death yesterday so I don't have firefox's lovely built-in spell check and am stuck with.....*sigh* Internet Explorer until my parent's get their computer fixed, I have to use this one. Also, i've been taking a lot of medication so i'm pretty.....well......high on drugs so to say so bare with me if this becomes a pointless, incoherent ramble.

After I had the walkthrough the the surgion, the "scary" operation part began. I started to panic a bit as I had a flashback of a youtube video I saw of a wisdom teeth extraction a few days prior on youtube. The nurse then began to hook up my arms to various machines and then the first real "horror"......THE SEDATION NEEDLE ZOMG!

The whole sedation needle thing wasn't really a big deal luckily, all I felt was a little prick followed by a bunch of blood being funneled out of my arms and then....lights out. I woke up 30 minutes later, moaning incoherently with gauzes in my mouth. Something I had built up so much was done in a matter of minutes.

After speaking to the nurse about what to do post-op I went home, slept and took my various medications.

The moral of the story.....if your getting your wisdom teeth pulled anytime soon, don't be a baby. It's virtually nothing, the only downsides are.

1. Drowsyness from the meds

2. Lack of solid food for at least 3 days.

3. The bloody gauzes you'll be pulling out of your mouth the first couple days.

And now I get a whole week to just relax and chill at home without having to worry about job and college applications, fantastic!

What a coincidence; I just got my wisdom teeth out this past Saturday. Before the operation, I was a bit freaked out, but it was fine. I was asleep during the entire operation, and spent the past few days relaxing at home. I took a few naps, and ate pudding and jello. I didn't have any problem with bloody gauze, though. I got off well in that respect.

my wisdom teeth are almost out but I don't see whats the reason to get them out
they don't hurt and are not making my teeth crooked

so why go through all the pains of a operation when there's no neeed

If you don't think they need to come out, talk to the guy who had to take them out beforehand and ask why, if he/she doesn't have one. Don't get it done.

okie :P phew, looks like I can avoid an operation

What a story ;0

I had to get one of my teeth ripped out when it wasn't loose enough so the pain was tremendous >_<

Well, the pain's over so to speak :p

Did you pull all four out at once??

melly: normally they have a reason, so make sure they have one. Talk to the surgion or whomever is doing the operation before you get them done and ask why you need them. Odds are their either impacted or growing in improperly. If you don't get them done now odds are you'll need to get them done later, the longer you wait. The more pain you get later.[/
