Will you maintain your five stars? Is there any benefit?

Will you try to maintain a five-star island status once you receive five stars, or will you do whatever you want with your island? I've reached the five-star status, but I've come to realize that in order to design my island to my tastes, I won't be able to keep my five-star status. I wanna plant way more trees than a five-star status allows, as I really want to make a natural/forest island!

Is there any benefit to maintaining a five-star island other than getting lilies of the valley? Because if not, I'll probably say to heck with it and rock a four-star island again.

I'm not going to try super hard to keep it - I haven't had the issue yet, but I also don't like how it limits your creativity so if it becomes an issue I will definitely choose to design the island the way I want as opposed to keeping the rating. Stuff like "too much clutter" makes sense (although some people do like to decorate with "clutter" and weeds), but if she tells me there's too many trees I probably won't be cutting them down for the rating.

I say once you get the golden watering can recipe and the amount of Lilies of the Valley you want, just do whatever you want with your island.

I say, just plant whatever trees you want. The five star rating doesn’t affect anything. I love more foresty, natural themed islands rather than a more city feel

I'm going for the golden can and some flowers, then I'll let it drop again to 4.

I stressed over having a perfect town in NL, and it just isn't worth it.

I'm not going to work hard to maintain it - I'll keep it up long enough to get the number of lilies of the valley that I want but after that if I lose it it won't matter too much

I want to maintain it for some time to grow more lily of the valley that actually happens to be my favorite flower.
I think there's also an achievement you unlock if you keep it for 5 weeks in a row.
After that, I won't care.
I actually want to have more weeds on my Island.

i still have it since the day i've gotten it. i don't have spaces to leave items on the ground anyway. and i like getting the jacob's ladders, whatever its called now.

Honestly there isn't much point beyond the lily of the valleys. I'm not going to work to maintain it at all and just want to create my island to be how I see fit :)

I just reached 5 stars the other day, I'm not really worried about if it drops or not. I hadn't even decorated most of my island. If I lose the 5 star rating I don't think I'd be too worried if I'm happy with how my island looks! I do want to get more lily of the valley flowers though.

Probably not. I'll try to for a few days to get some lily of the valleys, and at least once to get the golden watering can. But other than that it doesn't really matter to me.

I don't make drastic changes to my island all at once, so for me it might be maintainable, but then I haven't checked in at least a week, I just make sure I keep seeing new lilies-of-the-valley every so often. If I'm removing lots of fence to make something more open, I try to counter by putting more stuff down before the day rolls over. So far thought it doesn't quite seem like I've lost the rank - just when I'm getting concerned I might have lost it, oh there's a new LotV, cool I still got it.

From what I remember of spoiling Nook Miles achievements for myself, there was no achievement for keeping a five-star streak for any length of time but I'd have to double-check.

Same, I want to include a lot of trees and bushes around my island. I'm collecting a new lily of the valleys for decorations later on but I doubt my island will remain at 5 stars after all my planting lol.

I actually don't actively care at this point, but despite planting weeds for decorating purposes, having a lot of trees, and lots of items on the ground, I'm pretty sure my island hasn't dropped to 4 stars since every few days I see a new Lily of the Valley in a different place. Always a nice little surprise though.

I was super worried about maintaining mine, but I’d really like to have more stuff on the ground (diys, etc) for people to take so I think eventually my rating will fall. I noticed that even after uprooting a lot of flowers and storing a lot of my outdoor furniture I did still have 5 stars so perhaps at some point I can stick DIYs everywhere.

I don't know how I grew a lily of the valley because my town has a ton of stuff strewn around for trades... tbh I haven't checked frequently since I got 3 stars to unlock terraforming. Don't let a star rating dictate your town, just keep what you like around.

i think i'll maintain it. i don't want to make any changes that would lower the rating right now, and i like getting the lily of the valley flowers

I maintained it long enough to get a certain number of lily of the valleys I wanted but after that I wanted a free diy spot for visitors so all those dropped item has made me 4 star again ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yes, I’d like to maintain mine because lily of the valleys are my favorite flower species in Animal Crossing. They fit just about every idea I have for my island design. It’s so frustrating spawning new ones, though. I haven’t found any for over a week now...

once I have it, I'll probably keep it, but that's because I'm decorating the way I want already, so when I finally get five stars, it will be with an island I like, so it'll be easy to keep up. I am however not actively pursuing it, but if I knew that the way I wanted my island to look wouldn't give me five stars, then I would probably try to get five stars as quickly as possible just to get the golden watering can, and then do what I want. But it's just an ingame ranking system, there's so much else to do in the game, so why focus on that?

Will you try to maintain a five-star island status once you receive five stars
Yes, because Isabelle's rating of my island is more than just a rating. Isabelle doesn't realize just how much control she has over me; my own self-worth is intertwined with the rating she gives me. I couldn't possibly allow my rating to slip. Isabelle takes a look at all I've slaved away, spending hundreds of hours developing and she cackles if my rating drops. I'm not sure if she's cruel, or just blissfully unaware of how inconsiderate and hurtful she is... though, she's a smart gal, so I'm leaning more to the former. Either way, I wouldn't dream of allowing her the satisfaction of seeing my rating drop for any reason.
