Will villagers ping you when there is a special event?

Hi, someone please remind me how this goes. So Poppy just told me that Erik is thinking about moving. I have passed in front of Erik many times, started over too. No ping!

Today is weeding day in my town. Is that preventing Erik from doing his ping? I dont want him to move! Will he ping me tomorrow? Thx. Its been a while since a ping and a special event collided, so I am forgetting how this goes.

I'm pretty sure that events don't prevent people from pinging you. Perhaps tourneys might, but I don't think events like Weeding Day will.

I don't know about Weeding Day specifically, but a lot of events do prevent villagers from pinging you. The same thing happened to me on St Patrick's Day!
I'm pretty sure Weeding Day ends at 7pm, so he might ping you once it's over!

Oh man, I always assumed that villagers would never ping/say that someone was moving out on a event day so I always just tt over events when I was trying to cycle a specific villager out.

I never lost a villager accidentally by doing that though so who knows

They can indeed ping on event days ... but they won't on fishing/bug tournament days.

They won't ping you during events they are "involved" in like tourneys, Festivale, etc., but they can ping you for events where it is just Isabelle standing in the plaza. They can ping you after tourneys are over.
