will my villagers wear clothes i mail to them?

if i mail one of my villagers a clothing item will they wear it?
also same for accsessories

Yes they will wear it in NL, I mailed a villager a shirt and they wore it the next day. But there may be a chance when they may not wear it.

In New Leaf, they will not wear accessories, but they may wear a shirt if you mail it to them. However, they may also display the shirt in their home as furniture.
