I'm debating on which one. I would 100% get a Wii U if animal crossing came out, but it didn't and I'm debating.
Thanks! :3

Well firstly NX might not come out until around late 2017 so you'd need to wait 2 years. If you find a cheap deal you could buy a Wii U to go on for the next 2 years making it worth the money or you could have it for 2 years and sell/trade in when the NX comes out.

Nintendo said they'd reveal more information about NX at next year's E3 (around June) so you might want to wait until then before deciding. If you are considering waiting 2 years before getting a console, 8-9 months shouldn't be that long. If you wait until then, they may or may not announce an Animal Crossing Wii U at next year's E3 or before. So that could help the decision a lot.

Also, NX isn't guaranteed to have backwards compatibility with the Wii U if they're changing the architecture of the next console (GameCube/Wii/Wii U were all similar enough they could be backwards compatible).

I bought a Wii U a few months ago because there are already a load of Wii U games (and wii games) that I want to play and I want a console for the next couple years. I might not get an NX at launch. Also I got mine for cheap. Oh, plus if I were to wait for the NX then there'd be loads of games I would need to go back and buy/play which wouldn't be good - some might have gone out of print and be extremely rare and it would mean I'd buy a lot of games at once instead of over 2 years.

I like my Wii U but if I could sell it and get the NX instead I would.
let's just hope the NX will be backwards compatible

I really like the Wii U and while it doesn't have lots of games, I'd say it's worth it for Wind Waker, Mario Kart, Splatoon and Smash Bros alone.

I guess it depends what other consoles you've got and how much money you've got.

I'm rooting for the NX.. Wii U sort of flopped compared to other consoles eh

It did sadly but I feel like there's still lots of great games on the Wii U and as much as any other home console. I wouldn't buy too many games for a home console because it would get expensive but I can easily count 10-15 games that I want/have for the Wii U. For the Wii, I can think of about 10-15 games too but I'm not so sure (maybe because it's older) and I'm also not sure that I would like those games as much as the Wii U games.

If you only really want Animal Crossing for Wii U though, I wouldn't buy a Wii U until Nintendo say something about it. You should probably buy it for the games that have been announced, not the games that might be/haven't.

Ahh thanks everyone.
I can wait for more info/e3. I have a PS3 and my 3DS so I don't really need it.

I already have two XBOX 360's, DSi, and a 3DSXL. I always wanted a Wii, but since Wii U came out, I debated on getting that instead. But since I heard there's no new big Animal Crossing games being released on it, and none of the Wii U games intrigue me, I decided against it. I already have enough, and if I need more, I can always play PC games too.

Since there might possibly hopefully be another big Animal Crossing game on NX, I'm actually thinking of saving for that instead, but if there's just spin-offs released on that, then nope.

NX

Wii U is pretty much dead

I wouldn't say it's "dead." It's got some strong exclusives like Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros. Wii U, Wind Waker HD, and Splatoon that keep it alive. Does anyone here even know anything about the NX other than the fact it was announced? I would buy a Wii U if you see a good deal in the future, but it doesn't really sound like you want one enough to buy it.

I mean we don't know much about the NX until they decide to release more information about it. So I would get a Wii U for right now cause it will take a while for the NX to be release. Also you be able to save up money for the NX when it comes out cause it be a while before they release it.

Also Wii U has some great games like Mario maker, Splatoon, Wind Waker, Hyrule Warriors, Mario Kart 8 and also Star Fox is coming out for the Wii U next year though, but it be worth it though. So in the mean time just get the Wii U and if you can, you can start saving up your money for the NX.

I really love my Wii U and I own a ton of game for it. But at this point, I'd hold out for the NX. Especially if the new console will be backwards compatible.

It's so weird to me when people say the WiiU has no games. It also rocks 1080p harder than other consoles, in many cases.

In any case, some great games that are already out:

Super Mario 3D World
Mario Kart 8
Smash Bros WiiU
Splatoon
Bayonetta 2 (which also comes with Bayonetta 1 if you buy the physical copy)
Rayman Legends
Hyrule Warriors
Super Mario Maker
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze
Wind Waker HD

Hyrule Warriors alone is a game that can take at least 100 hours if you want to 100% it, and that's not counting its incredibly reasonable DLC.

Plus, games like Star Fox Zero, Legend of Zelda WiiU, Yoshi's Woolly World, and Xenoblade Chronicles X are coming out.

This is just a small fraction of games available for it, too, there's a lot more. That aside, I think it's better to buy fewer games at first, with good replay value, and then expand. Nintendo's really good about making their games polished and fun, something the other game-crazy developers could learn from (looking at you, Assassin's Creed Unity, SIMs, and Arkam Knight).

I find it funny that people are saying the Wii U has no games as in it has no good games, and then say get the NX when the NX has literally no games. And when it does get games, who actually knows if those games will be good?
Please get a Wii U.

I agree with everything you've said. But since there is only (smart guess) about a year or so until the NX launches, so spending 250$ on a machine that will be outdated in a year is a bad investment to me.
