Wii U game recommendations

i've saved up for a new wii u game, but i'm having trouble deciding what to get because i don't want to waste my money... i currently have mario kart 8, pikmin 3, nintendo land (came with wii u), captain toad: treasure tracker, and child of light. here are the three i'm looking at:

monster hunter 3 ultimate
hyrule warriors
super smash bros wii u
you can also add something else you'd recommend..

i know there are tons of these threads but why not another....,? thanks so much!

Hyrule Warriors is insanely awesome, and completely worth the money. And the DLC, my god, the DLC!

Super smash bros is great! I just started playing on the wii u last night and it's a ton of fun. ^_^

Hyrule warriors also looks good even though I don't have it yet.

the only reason i'm unsure about super smash bros is the fact that i have the 3ds version. i wish i hadn't bought it because wii u looks way better, but i just don't know about buying two of the same game so close to each other :/

I have both as well and I play the wii u version a lot more. I just think fighting games work better on consoles tbh.

If you're unsure about getting two of the same game you could always go with hyrule warriors, it looks fun as well! Look up some trailers and let's plays of both games and try to see which one would suit you better.

Definitely play the demo of MH3U before buying the game as it's quite different to your average action RPG. The combat & controls can take a while to get use as well so there's nothing wrong with getting a bit of practice. MH3U is a great game however so do give it a chance before making a decision. Overall the safest game to pick of the three (and my personal favourite) would be Super Smash Bros U. It might even be my favourite game in the series!

my boyfriend loves the series, and i've watched him play a lot. that's the reason why i'm interested in it. it is a little different from what i've played, and it seems to require a lot of work and time, but i'd love to try something new out =]

Yes Mh3U does require a lot of work and time but it is a very fun game! Once you get over that learning curve, it's definitely worth it. In fact I would recommend it over the other two games. Or you could wait a few months and get Mh4U on the 3DS

In that case, does your boyfriend own a copy on the 3DS or Wii U too? If so I'd say definitely get it! MH is one of the best games to play on co-op because the game is more or less designed for it. It's so fun with a friend or SO as long as you don't get frustrated with each other

This is not a Wii U game but Fire Emblem 7 is a GBA game on the eShop and if you're at all into strategy OR RPG you should get it. My favourite game of all time.

i loved awakening! strategy RPGS are my favorite. i've actually looked into getting that and am still thinking about it either that or earthbound

yes i've heard the multiplayer is great! the only problem is my wifi isn't very good and comes on and off, so i'd probably just be a burden to other people :/

Hm, you could always get the Ethernet LAN adapter for the Wii U (Wii version works too) if that's an option for you. That's useful for Super Smash Bros U too

This. I had it on 3DS and bought it on Wii U after Christmas (because I wanted online multiplayer). Already put in 50 hours with my friend and we aren't even close to a quarter the way into the game yet.



To be honest if Monster Hunter is something you would enjoy, I recommend getting that above the other two. It's the one I've gotten most play out of so far anyway (and that's only counting my Wii U play time).

- The single player is good enough on it's own. The amount of time I put into it is silly. There's just so many 'monsters' to hunt and they all have their differences no matter how big or small they might be. It's a challenging game (especially at the start) but it's one of the ones where you feel great about landing that finishing blow on the Rathien after a 25 minute battle with it...Then going back home to turn it's big stupid face into some lovely new armor :3
- The multiplayer is even better (co-op usually does have this effect), though a separate character/gear set is recommended as not to 'over power it'. Same content/monsters as single player, just that the difficulty and fun scales to match the amount of people in the party.


Hyrule Warriors is fun but it's highly repetitive. You're doing almost the exact same thing for the entire game with barely any real variation.

Smash U doesn't really have enough content to be played solely as a single player game unless you love grinding collectibles (in my opinion).

i'm really leaning towards monster hunter. imo super smash bros just doesn't entertain me for too long. i get tired of it and end up forgetting about it. i have played quite a bit of hyrule warriors and really enjoyed it, but it does seem a little repetitive. my gut is going toward monster hunter but mannn hyrule warriors really is fun.

i'm so bad at making decisions ;; i'll go to the store and decide there.
