I want to know, how many of you here actually have a Wii U. I made this thread so at least we select amount of people can talk about the console.

Anyway, how about we start by talking about a game that was released physically 11 days ago.... (~_~)

Okay, so Wii Fit U is a game I really can wait to play. It will be my first Wii Fit game, not to mention it looks fun, and the fitness factor is an added bonus since I am a couch potato. I'm not trying to lose weight and I am scrawny so I am not scared of the game reading me as obese or overweight.

ME! Go it Christmas 2012.I think the system itself is solid, but I don't think there's any "good" games on any consoles at the moment. (Except for 3DS, but that's not a console.) When I say "good", I mean a game that you'll come back to over and over. (Some for the Wii IMO were SMG 1 and 2, SSBB, MK Wii, Skyward Sword.) Nintendo Land was fun for a few months, but then it's nothing much new. Wind Waker HD, while my favorite Zelda game, is just a remake. 3D World is fun, but probably just a one-time game. Just waiting for Smash Bros, and then I'll change that statement.

Ironically, they have basically made my dream games on the console.

1. A successor to 3D Land that fixes all of the problems I felt it had and even goes way beyond that. (Super Mario 3D World)
2. A Dr. Mario game with two modes for that are good for players who suck like me (Dr. Luigi)
3. A Pikmin game that basically is just right in terms of difficulty despite it's length and has a mission mode actually worth replaying. (Pikmin 3)
4. A remake of my favorite Zelda game with improvements to make the experience smoother. Let's not mention I never finished it or got really far when I had it on Gamecube. (Wind Waker HD)
5. A WarioWare game that focuses on minigames instead of microgames, and has the characters in their own games (Game & Wario)
6. A New Super Mario Bros. game that took everything I liked about the series and expanded and improved upon it. (New Super Mario Bros, U)
7. A warioware 9-voltish, rom hackish game (NES Remix)
8. A fun Mario & Sonic at the Olimpic Winter Games game (Mario & Sonic Sochi Olimpics)
9. A fun party game, even though I can't get anyone to play it with me (Wii Party U)
10. A sonic game that isn't just about boosting mindlessly through a stage and features the return of the wisps. (Sonic Lost World)
11. A sequel to my favorite shovelware game (Family Party 30 Great Games Obstacle Arcade)

Games I don't have but plan on getting:

12. A smash bros. game that apparently will feature characters I never thought would ever be in a Smash Bros. game. (Smash Bros. for Wii U)
13. A mario kart game that mixes elements from Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 7, and puts all new elements into the mix. (Mario Kart 8)
14. A fun fitness game (Wii Fit U)

I bought one for my younger brothers last year but it has mostly collected dust, despite them owning most of the relevant titles. I've sat with them through each one and the only games that have piqued my interest personally are 3D World and Pikmin 3, although 3D World wasn't as revolutionary as I would have liked from Mario and the amount of hand holding in Pikmin 3 really turned me off. I wish I could say the near future excites me, but while I'm anticipating the next Smash and Kart games, they aren't anything to throw my money at. Until I see Nintendo start pushing out games for their secondary IPs and steady exclusive content on their platform, I'm more than content to rely on my 3DS and PS3/PS4 combination for gaming needs.

All that said, I think they're putting out enough in the future to please fans and I am not making any blanket judgments about the quality of their content, and I am interested in what comes in the more distant future.

I just got one yesterday and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be (besides the mandatory update when you first turn it on). Only really wanted it for Monster Hunter but also purchased Nintendo Land and Wii Party U for parties.

Hardware and loading times are a let down and I really dislike being told to take breaks from playing. I'm still not over the massive AC adapter. It seems so ancient. It's also rather expensive (at least in Australia) for something that isn't even current gen.

Having said that, it's a step up for Nintendo. Besides it finally having an HDMI cable, I can enjoy Monster Hunter after never being able to play the 3DS version since the graphics made me feel sick after a few minutes.

Boyfriend and I played Nintendo Land and had a lot of fun. The Animal Crossing Mii Plaza is also cute and we both enjoyed finding our villagers and reading the posts about each of them.

I predict we'll end up only playing it for a month or two though. There's just no good games and nothing interesting being released in the future. I don't care about Mario and I really don't like Zelda games so I have nothing to look forward to. It's just something we'll bring out when we have friends over.

I have a Wii U, and to be honest, I really think it was a waste of money.

All I ever use it for is Netflix. The few games that are out for it don't have enough replayability to make it worth getting.
Plus with these rumors going around that Nintendo is already working on a new console, I doubt the Wii U will even be alive for more than a couple of years from now.

I love Nintendo, I really do. But I'm not going to blindly back them up when they have obviously made one of the biggest mistakes of their entire life. The Wii U had a pretty good amount of potential, but it's the fact that Nintendo is so bad at marketing, their lack of durability, and most of all the fact they refuse to let any third party games in are what is killing them.
They could have made the Wii U work if they had started working on the games before the console had released. They needed finished or almost finished games to give people a reason to buy. They didn't. They also made the huge mistake of naming it "Wii U".
I've worked in retail, and I have friends who are still working retail, and I can not tell you how many times people thought the Wii U was just an add on for the Wii. They STILL think that. Their target audience, the casual gamers and families, from the Wii, don't see a point in getting the Wii U because they think it's exactly the same thing.
And since that is the only audience that Nintendo really caters to, they essentially have almost nobody wanting their console.

It's bad planning, bad marketing, and I really hope that Nintendo can learn from it.

@ProfGallows

Wow, that's unfortunate!

Anyway, I never really look at mistakes or flaws in anything, so I didn't notice any of that stuff. And this doesn't just go for Nintendo. If people pointed out flaws with Sony or Microsoft, I wouldn't have noticed.

Ironically, it was money well spent for me. It basically has my dream games on the console like I said, and if Nintendo releases this Fusion thing. I hope they let Wii U at least have a lifespan.

I was wondering if they were going to bring a white 32GB wii u to Europe and America because there has been one in Japan for a while now. Does anyone know?

Feel free to correct me if wrong, but I'm under the impression the reason they only have an 8GB version of the white console is because white consoles just don't sell very well. Especially in North America.

Over here they're using the white version solely for Skylander's promotions and they have stacks of them since older people ask for black anyway.

14. A fun fitness game (Wii Fit U)

1. I'll agree that it was WAY better than 3D Land.
2. I also suck at those kind of puzzle games, they just bore me. And because of that, I don't have Dr. Luigi yet.
3. We already talked about Pikmin 3 in the other thread.
4. As I already said, it's really just a remake and isn't anything new.
5. I don't have Game and Wario yet but I know it's supposed to be pretty good.
6. You can really only make those games so many times before they get boring and repetitive.
7. Don't have that game yet either.
8. Don't have it but it doesn't look very interesting. (I just like the summer ones better.)
9. After finally playing all of the games on it, I think that the original Wii Party was better.
10. I have never owned a Sonic game. (I know, I'm a horrible person.)
11. Don't know that game.
12. That will be the Wii U's savior. I will play that game for days straight when I get it.
13. Only thing that would make it better is if there were elements from double dash as well. (Character specials, 2 people in a kart.)
14. I tried the 30 day trial and it was pretty decent. (Though if I want a fitness game, I usually play some dance game. And an actual dance game. Not Just Dance or anything like that.)

I have a Wii U and I consider it to be the best damn console I've ever played with ex aequo with my SNES when I was in my early teens.

1. Okay
2. I never played Dr. Mario before, but liked the Virus Buster game from Brain Age, so that's why I got this game.
3. Okay
4. Don't you mean as "I" already said? Anyway, as I already said, I never got very far in the game and even damaged it. This game gave me a chance to experience the game fully now that I am older and can catch on to the puzzles and stuff.
5. Game & Wario is a "quality over quantity" game. The minigames are well designed and have great level design. However, the minigames are very short and there aren't a lot of multiplayer. The thing that makes up replay value is trying to unlock all of the prizes and that you can always come back for a highscore. As for the multiplayer minigames, replay value comes from the fact that you can always try a different strategy or approace to beat your opponent. Although there aren't a lot of multiplayer games, the most of the singleplayer games are made in a way so people watching can help you out.
6. Well, my first Super Mario Bros. game was New Super Mario Bros. on the DS. As a result, I believe appreciate them a bit more than some might.
7. It's a good game. I mostly bought it because I always wanted to try the NES games featured in it, but didn't really want to buy them separately and because I was interested in the remix stages.
8. I never played the others after the first one, so I perhaps I like it more because of that. I also bought it because I needed a Wii Remote Plus for Wii Fit U.
9. I never played the original Wii Party. However, I have seen a whole playthrough of it, and I think both games are equally great. I mostly bought it for the extra Wii Remote Plus since I need it for Wii Fit U. I don't really play
10. Not really. Sonic at this point is becoming a boost2win game nowadays. Sonic Lost World in my opinion is more about platforming, but puts speed into the mix.
11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m9WE4YgDHkY
12. I depends with me. It doesn't feature a story mode like Sakurai says and I don't have anyone who is willing to play it with me.
13. That came to my mind yesterday too
14. I have the game now and have played it for 10 days so far. Again, I have never played a Wii Fit game so I probably enjoy this more than veterans. Also, I bought this because it looks fun and because I am kind of a couch potato.

I have a wii u, but barely use it. I would probably play it more if I had more games for it though. I still watch netflix on my wii because they have the different users and the wii u doesn't. The battery life on the gamepad sucks, I'm really disappointed about that.

I bought mine on release date like 2 years ago and i have only played 8 games on it
1. nintendo land
2. zombi u
3. lego city
4. super mario bros u
5. resident evil
6. rayman
7. super mario 3d world
and 8. is zelda wind waker

I kinda feel it was a waste but we do have mario kart and in a few days donkey kong so i guess its ok

I have a Wii U and I use it almost exclusively for Monster Hunter. It's worth it in my opinion. Wind Waker HD is really nice, too!

The battery life on the gamepad sucks, I'm really disappointed about that.

I agree with this, and before I bought it I was under the impression that you could charge it by plugging it into the console itself instead of having to use another wall outlet...

Just bought a Wii U from the newegg-ebay sale. So far, the games I have are: Windwaker HD, Wonderful 101, Ninja Gaiden 3, Pikmin 3.

This is my first Pikmin game and my first console purchase since the PS2. I also agree that the battery life on the gamepad is atrocious. I wish some games just had the option for you to turn the display off entirely. DK Tropical Freeze doesn't use the gamepad at all so we'll be able to play it for a while without the flashing red.

You can use a Wii remote or a WiiU Pro Controller on most games and turn off the Gamepad display. I don't find the battery life to be that horrible, but if you're playing for more than 8 hours at a time I guess that's so. I do at times have the problem of it dying out but I play A LOT so it feels like a trade off for me. My Wii remotes battery life is the best controller ever. My 360 one dies close to the WiiU one.
There really isn't anything about this console I don't like, I'm fairly sure anyone who picked up a Wii and enjoyed it will like the WiiU. It's just been advertised horribly. Lack of games? No lol You're clearly not looking hard enough if you think there is nothing by this point. Agreed that it's not where it should be after over a year, but nothing to play? Try again.

I had no intentions of purchasing a Wii U anytime soon...and then uh, they added the koopalings to the roster of Mario Kart 8, so I guess there goes my plans. :D

Does anyone here have a WiiU Pro controller? When it comes to accessory reviews they praise the controller and at times question why it wasn't just the regular one, but since gamepad battery life was brought up. I was wondering, and I also considered getting one but since that particular controllers support is hazy, Idk
