Wii Remote won't work?

Now this is the original Wii remote, not the Wii U
But I just ordered this remote, and the sellers won't reply about this.
I'm going to be contacting eBay about them, but in the meantime still wondering
what's wrong:

I just got new batteries for the remote, but it won't turn on.
The four blue lights will flicker, but won't stay on for me to use at all.

Has anyone else experienced this?
Should I buy a new one? I really hope I don't,
I have a strict budget this month lol

Update: Works now xD Just had to sync...

This happened to me back in 2011. Both of the remotes I had would only flicker , then stop. I tried syncing it, and that wouldn't work. Then for some reason 2 weeks later they decided to start working again. I still have no idea what happened.

Ah! I tried syncing it, and now it works
I'm pretty clueless to the Wii series, I grew up with only GC, Gameboy series,
and now Xbox 360 xD
No idea I had to sync it like that.
I'm so clueless >.<
