Why has my wet suit disappeared?! : /

so I saved up enough medals (48) and bought a black wet suit from the island.

I was using it for a day or 2 in my town and it inexplicably disappeared!

Has this happened to anyone else and is there any way to recover/locate (other than buying a new one)?

Maybe you put it into a letter and forgot? Or you dropped it and a tent or house was set on it (then it will appear in the police station).

I had a case of a disappearing wet suit... but I think it was just me being careless and I misplaced it somewhere.

I don't have a police station. I'm assuming this is because I've only been playing for a month?

The police station is suggested at random. If you don't have a police station I suggest that you learn the wetsuit trick and do that repeatedly.

If you placed the wet suit in your main square Redd's, Katrina's or an event tent could land in that spot. The item will be found in the police station lost and found. You will have to wait until you get the police station to get it back. It would be simpler for you just to buy a new one here.

You also could've carelessly sold it at Retail. I've done that to some tools before.
