Why don't my neighbors write back?

You have to write at least one line of text. Even just typing the word "friend" over and over with spaces in between will work, as long as it's enough to fill the first line and a little on the second.

Wow I had no idea you had to do that. But before I still did the same thing and they always wrote me back... =(

I don't really send any type of messages to my neighbors when I send them stuff, but they usually still send me something back.

Maybe you should socialize with them a bit.

That sounds like a good idea. I used to go outside and have chats with my animals, but now I just run past them. Maybe its because I'm not being consistent with them. Thank you! =3

No, it's almost a line of text. Your letters should be at least a full line of text.
