At least we southerners have right-to-work laws, lower debt per capita, more religious people, and lower taxes. These are the downfalls the Northeast has.
I'm not from 'Murica' though, so I can't really make an assessment. The only 'real' thing I've seen of the south is a Top Gear American Road Trip special when they drove through some southern state and got harassed and attacked for what was written on their cars. It seemed really homophobic from what seemed like religious reasons.
"These people shot their own welcome sign, what are they going to do to us?"
Oh yeah, I remember that episode. But to be honest, you have to remember that Top Gear is very much so set up so they do tend to show the bad stuff because... You know, the bad stuff is funnier. Although what happened to them was pretty disgraceful especially since they wrote pretty peaceful messages on their cars (only to provoke a reaction, mind you) and I know the south of America are very... Well, strictly religious, so it's no wonder homophobia and racism is such a problem there. :\ More religious people isn't always a good thing, though. Religion is usually the cause of most wars, you know. Nothing wrong in people having their own beliefs, but it's when it starts to cause a negative effect that it's.... Well, I guess that speaks for itself.
The South has had a history of violence from both the colored and White community. There will still be violence. There are a lot of Christian extremists in the South that are stubborn enough to not accept science by not letting their kids get vaccinated and learn the theory of evolution. The South primarily is rural, so education is not available everywhere
These are just things that I learned about; I'm not South bashing.
LOLOL dont beleivb the libal media!!111 They gonna trick u into thinkin Dixie ain't rite!!! stand ur ground!!! dont tred on me!!! *song of the south plays on the pickup truck's horn*

them homiesessuals and the gummyment tryin to take my racism away
To be totally honest. I'd be so scared to move down south. Unless it's the east south. The west south is awful. Arizona it's legal to kick somebody out of your store or business for being gay. And a bunch of other messed up laws. Texas is very racist.... I've met so many people from there. Cali is the only decent state in the south east.
who the heck gave this a five star rating
who did it
And here are the stuff I'm proud of the south (besides the religion):
- Less support for universal healthcare
- Less support for universal healthcare
- Less support for universal healthcare
(gays are fine, but not socialists).
haha, lovely
why do we need more threads you know are going to get political? obviously you like discussing how great the south and republicans are but it just makes everyone fight.
did you just say "colored" community????
Arizona is a western state. It doesn't go under the Southern US. But it is in one of the same regions Texas is in - the Southwestern US.
I may be proud of being a southerner, but there are some stuff I do not agree with as I think the Northeast is better in those areas. At the same time, I'll point out what the south doesn't have that I shame the northeast for.
Here are the stuff the south has that I'm not proud of (besides the stats):
- Racism
- Homophobia
- Super fattening foods
- Hilly large cities (Little Rock, I'm looking at you)
- It once allowed slavery
- It once had Jim Crow laws
- The KKK
And here are the stuff I'm proud of the south (besides the religion):
- Right-to-work laws (you have the right to work without a union, even in a unionized business).
- Little or no gun control
- Less support for universal healthcare
- Low taxes
Stats show that the south is more unlivable, but I think cities and states are more unlivable when there are more left-wing people (gays are fine, but not socialists).
