Why does nobody like Beardo?

I have Beardo in my town. My not-so-affectionate nickname for him is Pedobear. A large part of that is his poorly placed "stomach" hair. I find him creepy and his smug personality makes it worse because he's flirty. I kind of like him at first, but then I grew to hate him.

I had Beardo and I loved him. I thought he was adorable. I gave him away though because I got Tex in my town and didn't want two Smugs. He's in a good town though.

He's ugly, but in a cute way. I also don't think his appearance fits the smug personality. I would like him 100000000xs more if his personality was cranky instead.

I think it's because he's bald. Baldness is common in older men. Older men aren't usually cute which I think a lot of people in this game tend to go for as far as villagers is concerned.

Or maybe they just dislike that he looks like a detective? Idk, some people are just picky about things.
