Title. I know the explanation was to avoid crunch, which I appreciate, but I can't help but feel that the customer really got the short end of the stick. Like 9 extra months and this is what you have to show for it?

As a disclaimer: I have no idea of what game development is like, I'm sure the extra time was badly needed. I also do enjoy the game, I just enjoy complaining about it too 😛

delayed? i thought it had been advertised to release on march 20th, and had released on march 20th? o:

NH was originally supposed to come out in 2019 if I'm not remembering things wrong!

That said I can only imagine they were behind schedule for one reason or another.
Maybe the terraforming system took longer than expected to develop. Could even just be due to the game not being polished enough to release in 2019. We saw a fair bit of visual changes from the E3 trailer.

could be because it just didn't look the way they thought it should. i saw some early development pictures and it looked like a slightly-buffed version of new leaf, lol. and we all know that video of tom nook telling us it'll be delayed; even then it looked like new leaf, they took it an entirely different direction, though, so it's quite possible that it was simply the looks

The only footage I remember seeing before release was from the treehouse we got at e3 2019, and that looked more or less like the game we have now (bar some differences in textures and lighting). Was there any earlier footage or pictures?

I'll have to look back over the trailers, because right now I don't remember if terraforming was shown at e3 or if it was first shown during the direct a month before release.
