Why do yoù play?

It's really relaxing. I was originally drawn in by the cute characters and how you can design patterns and clothes, as well as the furniture and constellation aspects. It's so cozy and welcoming, it's always there for you to pick back up.

I was a bit of a lonely teen, but playing online with friends and watching the countdown on wild world, even if it was alone in the kitchen, plugged into the wall... they were good times. I pick ACNL back up now and again when I have a lot of free time.

EDIT: oh yeah and it's definitely stress relief, the summer of 2013 was one of the worst parts of my recent life and playing new leaf helped ease the Void a bit

It's peaceful and makes me feel less stressed. I love collecting things and earning achievements. Also I live for Bubbles and Deli. They're so friggin cute UGH.

I have periods of time where I'll play it daily, and then not play it for a month or two, so I don't play very consistently. Mostly, I play when I just want to have some light fun, and have a bit of a getaway from real life. I work multiple jobs, and they're all highly stressful, so it's a good break from some of the more abusive elements of them, particularly my customer service job.

I have mental illnesses, and they stop me from being able to do a lot of things. When I met my husband, he had New Leaf and I always wanted to play. I watched him play, and fell in love. I didn't get my copy until 12/26/15, but the wait was worth it. It helped me de-stress and feel happy so much, and when we went to basic this year (he's in the Air Force), I played as a coping mechanism, and to keep me busy and distracted while we couldn't talk; I spent hours playing.

Animal Crossing is the best stress and anxiety relieve ever, and I can't thank the creators enough.

I play to win.

No but really I've loved this series since I was nine and it's just so close to my heart. It helps me cope- I've been falling back into a rough patch lately and being back in NL is a nice way to destress and just make me calmer and happier.

I play because the villagers are cute, I can dress my mayor and the game is relaxing (at least when you're not frantically trying to cycle out a villager for 7 hours) LOL

Why I play? Life has been pretty bad with my Depression/Psychosis, and, I have to say, it's actually helped me in some way. It gives me something to do. I've reached a really low point in my depression to where I barely have any activities anymore... :( It sucks... I like collecting and cataloging items, I like the animals, I like the music. This game is awesome. Animal Crossing, New Leaf or not, is perfect for relaxing/people like me who have illnesses.

I grew up playing the game, and I loved it as a kid, and I love it now.

Same here Bone Baby, same here. :)

Personally I play animal crossing for the sheer enjoyment of it. It really cheers you up when you are feeling down and it is really exciting when you accomplish things. Especially like when you finally get a perfect town! Man I have never felt so overjoyed. Also like when you get all the medals or when you finish the final upgrade to your house and when you get your final dreamy. The game has so MUCH in it and it is so addictive. I love it for all those reasons!
