I recently restarted and transferred my dreamies to my new town. I currently have Wolfgang, Beau, Fauna, Diana, Bam, Deirdre, Rosie, and Felicity. I have Whitney waiting to come over from my old town to be reunited with Wolfgang. :3 Anyway, I am stuck between having either Lolly or Pekoe in my town since they are both in my cycling town right now. Lolly has been a dreamie for quite some time, but when Pekoe moved in, I couldn't believe how adorable she was!

Do you guys try to balance species in your villagers? Or personalities? Or how they would mesh with other villagers? Who's in your town and how and what are some reasons you guys have the villagers you do? :3

(Also, who should I move in as my 10th villager?!)

I have;
-Canberra because she was the first to move into my town. At first I really hated her, but after she gave me medicine when I got stung and just developed a connection to her. (Also, I know this is because she's uchi, but I didn't know at the time!)
-Chief because he's one of my starting villagers and, I don't know, he was just instantly my favourite!
-Erik because he's adorable and deer are my favourite animal. I used to want Beau, but then I found out about Erik (and he reminds me of home, Canada lol)
-Flora because I needed a peppy villager and she's so cute!
-Gladys because same reason for Chief c:
-Kyle because I always thought it was cute that he used to always call my character cute because of his smug personality
-Papi because, even though I already had a lazy villager, I just thought he was so cute! Especially with the stripes on his legs and how his eyes turn into x's when he's surprised, and, just, ahh! <3
-Pierce because I needed a jock, I love his colour scheme, and I love eagles!
and Wolfgang because he turned up in my campsite and he just looks so nice! I only had to talk to him once for him to ask to move into my town!

Each of my villagers has a reason either nostalgia or superficial. My current villagers are Pango, Beardo, Caroline, Lionel, Muffy, Rosie, Felicity, Ankha, Molly, and Freckles. Molly is going to my sister and Freckles I hate with a passion cause she just moved in without my consent and is currently in the middle of my front yard. My last two dreamies are Maple and Lucky. Now for the explanation of each:

Pango: She's the only original villager I have left in my town from when I started it up almost a year ago. I'd never had her before, but she quickly became friends with my mayor and has remained one of my best friends since the beginning. Everyone else is gone and replaced, but she's always been in my town and hopefully always will be. She likes to send me letters and pop in for visits every now and then. She's also given me about 6 pictures of herself. All in all I gained an unexpected attachment to her.

Beardo: When I first saw Beardo I was like "Dude, I need dat stache in my town" And I actually got him in my tent once and could have picked him up, but that was before I knew you could just spam the tent villagers and bully them into your town so I lost a game to him that would have made him move to my town and so I got sad, and it wasn't until the next day that my sister told me I could have kept trying. In the end she stumbled upon someone on a forum that had him moving out and I had room and so she let me have him for free :) I call him my mayor's husband in my town cause his house is kind of close to mine (but not obstructive *cough cough Freckles*) and every time I see him I just giggle.

Lionel: I wanted Lionel for the exact same reason as Beardo: He has a rockin mustache. He and Beardo are my Stache Bros and I have sent them Mario and Luigi shirts respectively a few times because their houses are kind of close together and I think it's really funny. Lionel is kind of my mayor's gay best friend because I once delivered a shirt to him from another villager and he tried it on and his only complaint was that it needed more glitter. XD

Caroline: She was completely an impulse pick up. I saw her up on reddit for free one day and I said "sure why not she's cute and I have an open spot in my town." So I picked her up with the intention of one day trading her out, but she found a little place in my heart. Caroline is actually a nostalgia character for me because in the gamecube animal crossing she was my very first town's island villager and I thought she was cute then and I still think she's cute now. I recently thought about letting her go in order to get someone else, but the more I thought about it the more I realized I would miss her if she left. Even if her house is awkwardly sandwiched in between Beardo and Lionel making it hard to plant bushes, I still really like her and don't ever want her to leave.

Muffy: I picked up Muffy because the previous uchi that I had picked up (Mira) moved out without even telling me! I played one day and saw her and she never pinged at me and then the next day I didn't play cause I was too busy and then I logged on the next day and her house was gone and she just sent me a letter like "Oh hey, I moved kbai" :< But Muffy was a welcome addition to my town even though she's kind of off in her own little lonely part of town atm (Maple will join you soon enough). She truly is the "black sheep" of my town.

Rosie: Rosie was one that I wanted because I love cats, but when I was originally picking out villagers for my "dream town" I debated on her because I wanted like 4 cats and I thought that was too many at first, but then I was like eh, whatever give me ALL THE CATS. And it just so happened that my sister found someone who was selling her for a relatively low price for Rosie, so we bought her for 5 million bells plus a bunch of hybrids which they were all mostly extra hybrids anyways. She's adorable and funny and I love seeing her around town and interacting with other villagers. She is one of my favorite AC villagers of all time.

Felicity: I wanted Felicity so bad the first time I saw her cause I was overwhelmed by her cuteness. Like I feel like if there was ever a villager to represent "me" it would be her. There was no doubt in my mind that I wanted Felicity in my town from the very early planning stages of my dream town and she's part of the reason I almost didn't pick up Rosie at first because she's another peppy cat, but then I decided who needs jocks or cranky villagers? I don't understand why she isn't as popular as she is because she's just absolutely adorable and I love her!

Ankha: I wanted Ankha because her design was really cool and I thought she was really unique when I first saw her. And since she wasn't another peppy cat and actually offered a bit of variety that I actually needed personality wise, I didn't say no. My only regret with Ankha is wishing I would have waited for a better deal on her. My sister paid 20 million to get her for me and after the fact I found her several times on reddit for free. But she's in my town nonetheless and I thoroughly enjoy having her. <3

I know these two aren't in my town yet, BUT I wanted to give an explanation as to why I wanted them:

Maple: I originally wasn't going to have Maple even though I thought she was so cute I could die. But I originally had Lolly (the 4th cat) planned as my other normal villager because I really liked her, but Lolly basically pulled a Mira and I logged on one day to find her in boxes even though I played every day and talked to her and passed her and she never once pinged! But I decided that instead of doing a risky 16 cycle to get Lolly back I would pick up Maple instead because I do like her and if I weren't getting her on my main town I would probably have ended up getting her for my cycling town eventually. She's currently sitting in my brother-in-laws town (which is controlled as a bit of a holding town by my sister, she also has Marshal waiting for my cycling, but he'll probably end up in my main for a while until I'm done cycling then I'll transfer him, but anyway) I think she's cute and in a way I'm glad that I will be getting a bit more animal variety in my town. :3

Lucky: I originally never even thought of Lucky. I've had him in previous games and never paid much attention to him, but he showed up in my cycling town and even though I'm giving that Lucky away to someone else I have been enjoying him while he's in that town. One of the main reasons I'm swapping him for Marshal on my main's dreamie list is because the inside of his house is decorated with Egyptian stuff just like Ankha's and I want them in a town together. Plus my cycling is in need of a smug and my main is in need of a lazy, so it works out in the end. :) I never realized how much I liked lazy villagers until I got my cycling town and had like 3-4 at the same time. They're just funny and they channel my inner fat kid. ;D

Spoiler for length

If I were you I would pick Pekoe just to add some variety since you've already got a couple cats, but that's just me. I was perfectly okay with having 4 cats before and I have 3 now, so in the end it's up to you. :) My sister has Pekoe and she is quite adorable.

Okay, well, here I go.

Eugene: He was the first smug in my town, moving in when my tree planting was only four days before. I really liked his design, especially the sunglasses, and so, I decided to keep him. He really doesn't fulfill any type of part in any type of theme, since my town isn't based on a film or video game, but rather coincidentally his house is located in the upper half of my town: the modern area.
Mira: This was back in December, so I can't quite remember it all. I got her in an auction. If I remember correctly she was actually one of my dreamies and not an actual "Ehh...well, I'll go for it, I guess" type thing. Didn't have to pay that much compared to what we have to pay for Marshal now. Still happy with her today, and enjoying it.
Hopper: I forget how I ended up getting this one. I just remember offering 1m for him and I got him. That's it, really. :p
Bree: My friend had Bree as one of his starters. However, he lost her in a TT accident. He likely wasn't going to cycle 16, so the next best thing was getting Bree into my town. (Note that I still liked her anyway, and likely she would be in my town even if the TT accident had not occurred). In November, I picked up Bree in an auction. I nearly had a heart attack when Astrid had plotted and not Bree (Astrid is long gone now), but thankfully Bree was not lost since I had 8 villagers.
Wolfgang: This one was an impulse pickup from a giveaway. I was originally looking for Whitney (which turned up in another giveaway the following day), but I was like, "Hey, it's a wolf, it's not Whitney, but it's free, so why not?" To this day, I do not regret that decision one bit.
Kid Cat: Ultimate dreamie of mine. After having Agent S in my CF and NL town (the latter as a starter) I really wanted Kid Cat in my town as well. My friend (who'd lost Bree) got him from the campsite, and he gave him to me when I had the room.
Fauna: A starter of mine, she was absolutely amazing. House placement, design, everything. I've kept her 50% for bragging rights, 50% because I actually like her. I've had a high friendship with her, and she remains as one of the two starters in my town currently.
Maple: The latest addition to my town. Phoebe was a former villager of mine that landed in boxes after a TT accident. She was given away to my friend. Anyway, I bought Maple out at an auction and quickly added her to my town, partially because she was cute, and partially because I desperately needed someone to take the 10th spot.
Agent S: She was in my CF and NL town. I really liked her, and she somehow landed as a starter in my NL town as well. I got Rocket and planned for Big Top + Kid Cat to join, but in the end I decided against it and let Rocket leave.
Bones: He was in my CF town, and I got him from someone after saying I was looking for him since I lost Roscoe in a TT accident. Free of charge. Bones has left my CF town but remains a resident in NL Startown.

Ankha: Before ACNL was out, I was looking through villagers. I love the whole Egyptian mythology, so Ankha really stood out to me. Meeting her in somebody's Dream Town just sealed the deal for me. She's been in my town for a while now, and I don't regret taking her in.

Coco: Kinda the same deal as Ankha. I was just looking through villagers and saw her in there. Her creepy look stood out to me (same as with Sprocket and the other weird ostrich). It was interaction with Lolly that made me sure I'd enjoy Coco's company.

Deli: Starting villager. I thought he was kinda derpy at first, but the more I interacted with him, the more I liked him. He's my buddy now.

Ken: I needed a Smug. I like birds. Ken looked cool. I got Ken.

Knox: This guy just randomly moved in one day and I thought he looked awesome. Ever since then I've loved the guy like you can't even imagine. I say a lot that if a certain villager were to move out I'd quit playing, but with Knox that's reality.

Lolly: One of my starters. Early in the game I made her feel bad because my friend said I should shove villagers around. I felt so guilty about it that I decided to become her friend, and during that time I came to really like her. I wouldn't like my town much without Lolly in it.

Phoebe: After several failed Uchis (Muffy, Paula and Charlise) I got Fuchsia. Fuchsia was lost in a TT accident, and Phoebe was my second choice. She's never leaving.

Portia: Starting villager. I really enjoyed her, but at the moment I want her to move out to make room for Snake. I'm not forcing her out though, because we've had some good times together. Also, she appears to be in love with Knox.

Ruby: I have a REALLY hard time liking Peppy villagers. Most that I've met I just dislike immediately, I can't stand them. One of my friends had Ruby in his town though, and she struck a chord with me. Was looking for her ever since and finally got her.

Tom: Starting villager. He also made me like Cranky villagers a lot, and he has a good time with Lolly so I'm not gonna let him go.

Snake: I fell in love with him in Wild World when he moved to my town and he was my biggest dreamie and kept appearing at my campsite at the worst times. He eventually showed up when I had only 9, and I remembered why I loved him so much.
Peanut: When I came back to New Leaf after binging on Pokemon X, I noticed that her house was off the map, and that honestly really hurt to see. I think she's the cutest neighbor I have and I promised myself I would get her back one day, so I did. :)
Mira: After constantly appearing in my campsite, I decided to give this cute superhero bunny a try. She really grew on me, but I thought her mouth was a little weird at first, but I can easily look past that. She's one of my favorite uchis for sure.
Walt: I never planned on letting him go. I lost him in a time traveling accident and got pretty sad on that. He was a total bro to me, and I got his picture seven times. I had to get him back, he's probably my favorite cranky. I love everything about him.
Mint: I let her in originally to get someone out, but she really grew on me. I let her go before I knew about plot resetting and her house was exactly on where I was going to place my path. When I learned about plot resetting, I felt like a fool and had to justify getting rid of her by getting her back. I love everything about her.
Bob: After I noticed Peanut's house was gone, Bob was in my tent. He was one of my Wild World bros, and I had to do it. I lost him in a time traveling accident and missed him greatly. It's Bob, what's not to love about him?
Flurry: I let her go for the same reason as Mint, and when she moved into my cycling town, I had to get her back. She's probably my favorite hamster, and I want to hug her so much. She's so cute.
Tangy: I lost her in a time traveling accident as well. I love everything about her. Her house is probably one of my favorites in game. Her facial expressions are so cute and hilarious, and she reminds me of my real cat who is also orange.
Rodeo: He kept appearing in my campsite at the worst possible times, and every time I couldn't let him in. When I was doing the villager reset trick, he put his house in a perfect spot. I remembered him fondly from Wild World, and you can easily guess he's one of my favorite villagers ever. I love the song he has, his house, and I feel like he deserves more love.
Shep: I adore sheepdogs and from day one when I saw him in game, I really wanted him. His song is extremely catchy, and I feel like his house accurately represents who he is. I lost him while time traveling as well, and I realized how much I missed him.

That's that.

well because I like them ahuehuehuehue

Specifically uhh I guess there are three major reasons: nostalgia, sentimentality, and aesthetic.

Punchy was one of the starting animals in my first town on GameCube and he was my favorite, I don't recall that he ever moved out even though animals were always coming and going without warning on that game. He showed up in my campsite during my first and last attempt at villager resetting, but Aurora had plotted that same day and I didn't want her so unfortunately I had to leave Punchy. He showed up in the campsite again a week or two later though. :>
Peewee was another starter, although on WW this time. I liked him a lot because of his dialogue and stuff, and I was super sad when he moved out. I never forgot about him and I was so excited when I was TT'ing one day and found his plot in my town! o:
Roscoe eventually moved in and became my new fav in my WW town (he acted the same as Peewee haha) but he too moved without me knowing. I demolished the town after he did lmao He moved in to the new town very soon after which was cool, but I stopped playing WW after NL came out and I found him in my campsite sometime earlier this year! C:

Bob, Marshal, and Carmen were all random move ins in my NL town (I had Bob on WW at some point but he wasn't really a fave) and I guess I just got attached to them. Carmen much more than Bob and Marshal, whom I've thought repeatedly of letting go, but I can't bring myself to do it because they've been in my town for almost a year now. :b Plus Bob lives literally right next to me, it'd be too weird to start my game every day and not have him there.

I forgot that Fang even existed because he wasn't in WW, but I saw him in a pic of someone's NL town and I was like "yep" so I nabbed him up when I found him in the campsite. I was similarly unaware that Pietro existed but once I saw him I needed him in my town, I just really love his design, he's pretty much my new favorite. Julian I knew about for awhile but I wasn't really interested in him and then I just slowly started liking him more and more? Haha. I mostly like his color scheme, he looks so pretty walking around my town. ` o`
I took Rudy from the campsite because he was cute hAH

That's it I guess lol

Biskit: He is my favorite villager. He was a starting villager in my first Animal Crossing game, which is New Leaf. He also was a starting villager in my current town too!
Bam: I like deers. He lived in my old town
Coco: I also like Rabbits and I thought that her appearance was cool and unique. She lived in my old town.
Mira: She is a rabbit and is also unique. She lived in my old town once until I lost her due to a TT accident. Also one of the only Uchi's I like.
Fang: Was one of the starting villagers in my first town, though I never got to know him well before he moved. I also got him because he'd fit right in with Whitney... that is until she MOVED!
Marshal: I like squirrels and I like marshmellow squirrels. I used to not really like him that much, but now I do!
Stitches: He is unique and adorable.
Molly: Adorable and I had her in my old town.
Cookie: Her eyes are cute and I thought she'd fit in with Biskit.

I decide my dreamies by deciding if I like them and that I can have one of every personality.

Let's see here...

Ken - I really wanted him from the moment I saw him for the first time. I really like his design and coloring, and the smug personality is one of my favorites. I don't see myself ever letting him go. Hell, I'd give him a big hug if I could, I love him that much. c:
Papi - He was a random move-in from my first time, from before I restarted. I didn't care much for him at first, but he really grew on me. It was a shame he moved out in my first town, but I'm happy to have him back.
Wolfgang - I dunno, his design really stood out to me. It's as simple as that, really. I liked it. I decided to let him in after letting Static go, and he really grew on me. Though, I wish his house was a bit better.
Amelia - I was camper resetting one night for someone that looked pretty cool so I could have my town back at 10 villagers. Just when I was going to give up for the night, she showed up. She looked really cool, so I let her in. She really grew on me, and is one of my favorite eagles in general. She randomly left my town even though I had told her to stay. I eventually got her back from my best friend's cycling town, which I'm very happy about.
Astrid - I love most of the kangaroos, and I fell in love with her design. I think the stars look really cool, and I really like her house too. This is my second time having her in my town. Her house was in a bad spot the first time, and it was a total mess from before I started caring about how original my villagers' houses are. I'm happy to have her back.
Celia - I don't know, she just really grew on me. She was in my best friend's cycling town and I needed a 10th villager, so I decided to adopt her and she really warmed up to me. I think she's really cute and I adore her house and K.K. Aria. She's also one of my favorite eagles.
Kiki - She reminds me of my old cat that passed away, mainly because of the fact that she's black. She's warmed up to me and I regret letting her go a few months back. She's really cute, and I love her house. I still find it funny how she has K.K. Country playing on her stereo.
Tank - At first, I didn't like his design, but I decided to give him a shot because I wanted a new jock after letting Pierce move out, and I realized that he's really cool. I love his house and how he has K.K. Lament playing. I don't see myself letting him leave any time soon.
Bunnie - She'd always show up at really bad times in my campsite, but I finally managed to get her in my town after Bluebear and Phil moved out of my town. She moved in a really good spot too. I think she's too adorable, and I just want to hug her. I love her house and everything about her.
Cherry - I had her before, but around the time when I was trying to TT someone out. I decided to let her go when she pinged me. I don't know why I did it, but whatever. I kind of regretted it, but at the same time I didn't because I was able to have Avery move in from the tent. He was in my first town, but I restarted. Oh well, I wanted to get her back after letting Muffy go, and my best friend got her in his cycling town. She's one of my favorite dogs right next to Daisy and Shep.

Bluebear: She was one of the originals in my town. And I think she is adorable, and I love her personality. So happy. idk, I just like her. She pinged today to move, and I asked her not to, and so she is staying.

Aurora: Another original. I love penguins and she is adorable, even if she isn't as fancy looking as the other penguins. I like her "normal penguin look". She is precious.

Buck: He was the first to move into my town. He is hilarious. Definitely gonna keep him.

Mallary, Croque, and Jeremiah were originals. I want them to move.

Eugene, Gaston and Fuchsia moved into my town. They are okay, but not on my dream villager list.

Diana is my original villager. Erik and Lopez are from the campsite. The rest of them I won at giveaways or they were free

At first I was going for cute villagers to suit the theme my town will have in future, but once I realised the campsite reset trick, I started doing it and found a few villagers I really like (like my precious Fangy <3) and so now I'm slowly working on getting dreamies or at least villagers who just look awesome, rather than having a matching colour scheme.
