Why do people not like species repeats?

i don't mind this, if i like 5 of the cats then i'll get 5 cats 😂
my brother doesn't like this though, he wanted a snooty to balance the personalities and he had kyle and kid kat but only liked the cat and wolf snootys now he can't choose one

I think a lot of people prefer variety. I don't mind so much. Sometimes I get a bit annoyed because I'd love for my island to be more diverse (I have 2 wolves and 2 cats, lol). But I love them all.

I don't mind species repeats but I get why people would want more variety in their town. In fact I've seen plenty of people with one town of ONLY the same species.

For example: My town has both Axel and Tia in it, and it seemed cute that they began with a little rivalry but very quickly became really good friends. Like out of everyone in my town I see them play together probably the most.

It depends on the person tbh. Some like all of their villagers being different. Some crazy people only want one type for a theme. And other people have sets or mix-match their favorites regardless of species.

Everyone just likes what they like. Some people are all about having the same species, some like to have pairing species, some like variety.

I didn't plan this at all, but my main village has two dogs, two birds, and two penguins. Doesn't bother me. They're all different. (I don't plan on keeping one of the penguins, but I'm in no rush to get her out.)

No idea. Some villagers just are really likeable and cool looking, so I would hate to refuse a villager or two to live on my island because they're the same species. If I had Wolfgang, Freya, and Skye, I'd keep them all. I couldn't care less if they're all wolves.

Just for variety. Are there specie-specific dialogues? I’m not sure if there are but maybe that too. And the catchphrases are cute too when they vary from species to species. Like I can never get enough of Molly’s quackidee and I’m not gonna get that if I had an all cub town. Lol.

I’m not super strict though. I’m ok with 2-3 of same species if I really like them.

It’s just a preference. I personally just like having more of a variety, it makes me have villagers I wouldn’t otherwise have! And if I allowed myself to have species doubles I’d probably have all cats/wolves and that’s a bit boring to me, I wanna experience others :)

i just like to have as much variety in species and personality as possible! i think it's fun to collect all different types of animals. i am keeping both fan and whitney though, just can't bear to pick one

I just like to have as much variety as possible. It's the same with personalities. Even if you didn't need every personality to get all of the reactions and such, I'd still want at least one of each personality on my island. Having said that, I'm thinking of getting Roscoe even though I already have Julian. He's just too cute. Also, I don't think there's anything wrong with other people having multiples of a specific species. I've seen people who only have one species on there island, and I feel like that's pretty cute. It's just not what I want for my island at the moment.

It is just for variety. I'm going to try for one animal of every species in my first ten this time. Or at least I was before I found Nan and Chevre and fell in love with Sherb and still love Velma. At this rate, I should just see about making a goat island for funzies!

I just want to try to having more variety this time, which is painful because I like so many rabbits and cats.

In New Leaf at one point I had 5 cats and while I loved all of them I grew a bit bored with having so many. I might change my mind in the future though and stop caring but my plan for now is only one villager per species.

As someone with three bear cubs and two deer, I can say I just choose villagers based on if I like them, not species. I actually like seeing towns/islands with 10 of one species, I find it cute.

I am more picky about the personalities. I enjoy having all personalities present on my island, but having a repeat species is not a big deal for me (I have both Bob and Ankha after all).

It's all in what you like! I am personally the opposite as my whole island is only cubs! But I see the appeal in variety.

I don't mind repeats. I've got 2 cats and 2 squirrels. The rest are unique. I'm more interested in making sure personalities are represented, although I have doubles there, as well, with 2 normal and 2 cranky.

I guess it's all in what you personally like and how you want your island mix to look.

I definitely prefer having a variety but having repeat species doesn't bother me at all! I have 2 sheep (used to have 2 ducks but Ketchup wanted to leave so I let her) and I would never get rid of either. Love them both too much :giggle: At one point I had three elephants though (without trying) which was hilarious to me, but now I only have one.
