I've noticed that many people on this forum have second copies of ACNL, and I just want to know why. I know one big reason is for Cycling, but do people buy 2nd copies for more reasons than that?

If you have a second copy, what are your reasons for buying it?

I bought mine to cycle. I ran a cycle thread with another girl on a different forum for a long while.
However, then my schedule became inconsistent so now I use it as a town to grow a lot of perfect fruit and still give away some of the villagers that may move in. I've developed it in a small way by doing some house upgrades and building some pwps...but I'm not really sure if I'll do much with it like a normal town at this time. I think I'll just focus on the houses mainly until I don't need to grow tons of fruit anymore.

I wanted a new town with new ideas
but couldnt bear to delete my first town
simple as that

I'd love a second one so that I can create it with a cool theme and make it different to my other one. However, i'm already balancing my ACNL game with college work, so I don't think that getting a second copy is a good idea ._.

While I don't have a second copy just yet, I can say why I want one.

? Resetting - I used to reset my town a lot until I found a layout I absolutely love. I'd like the ability to reset whenever I want, while still having my main town safe & sound
? Time-Traveling - I do not time travel in my main town, but I'd like to have another town where I can time travel to any event at any time & not have to worry about messing up the town.
? Cycling - I'd like it to cycle villagers for myself ( selfish, yeah, but... ). If someone I like moves out of my main town, I could hold them in that town until I can take them back to my main. I could also cycle for some of my desired villagers instead of having to dish out millions of in-game bells for them.
? Decorating - Having another town to lay paths in, landscape, etc. in & houses to decorate is just something I'd like to do instead of being restricted to 4 houses - I could have 8 to work with.
? Petitions / Katie - I can travel within my two games to get these done instead of having to find someone else to connect with.

i want a second copy, but i don't think it's worth the money. i would like to use it for time traveling but i believe that it would divert my attention from my main town.

Pretty much everything swurve listed ^

I also like having a second town so I always have something to do. Sometimes I'll just feel like I've already done everything I wanted to do in my main town for the day, so I'll play with my alt town for a while (I don't time travel with my main town, but do with the alt).
Also, I have way too many dream villagers to populate just one town heheh. This way I can eventually have them all (`・ω・?)

I bought a second copy so I could use the villager reset trick to get my ultimate dreamie, Pietro. And I also used the second town for heavy time-traveling (I never TT in my main town); thanks to this I gathered several zodiac sets and weeding day sets to sell (I wanted to make bells in a way that didn't require boring beetle catching), and I borrowed my friend's DS so I could visit my second town to catch fish and bugs to finish my encyclopedia. After that I never really used my second town, it's a mess with weeds everywhere. Maybe one day when I have more time, I'll turn it into a cycle town.

I bought my second copy for cycling and TTing.
I started my game at June 9th 2013 and I'm currently caught up in March.

If I have a second copy, I'd use it to check the dream of my main town to make sure it's all good. Free bells for it too.

If I had a second copy with another 3DS, I'd use it to TT and fill the town with weeds. Then my Mayor could come over and earn the Weeding badges. I could also cycle cause people deserve to get their dreamies.

I have 3 copies right now and i'm loving it ^.^

One is for my all squirrel town because I realized so many of the villagers that I wanted in this game just happened to be squirrels so I thought why not just have all squirrels in one town? There's no room in my main game because that houses my top 10 dreamies. I'm also giving it a fairy-tale theme which I don't have for any of my other towns.

Another copy is for cycling right now but I intend to delete it soon to make another town. Helping ppl achieve their dreamies is truly an awesome feeling and seeing their reaction in-game is absolutely priceless.

My last copy is for my main town which houses my top 10 dreamies and I absolutely love my town. This copy is where I play the game entirely the way it was meant to be played. One day at a time. Because of this tho I don't play this too much since there's only so much you can do in one day.

Imo it's almost essential to have at least 2 copies of the game, one for playing the game the way it was intended and one for anything else. Playing the game normally means 1-2 hours a day at the most playing but that's not enough for me a lot of the time, so I can just switch to another copy and keep playing this game I enjoy so much ^.^

The main reason I'd want another was to make an even better town without having to get rid of the progress on my old town. For example, I don't like the layout of my town, or my character's face, and stuff like that, but I still have so many badges and items and villagers I like that I wouldn't reset this game, so I'd get a second game to get a face I like and a layout I like and maybe reset my starters, so I'd have one town with a good face and layout and another that got to keep the villagers and badges and stuff.

I bought a second copy so I could start a new town with new villagers,I find it fun running 2 towns :)

I think it's mostly because people have extra money lying around, and/or love AC A LOT so why the heck not.
I wouldn't consider getting an extra copy, but I do admit that I do like helping others in New Leaf at times.
And TTing is very tempting two, but I feel like I put quite a lot of focus on my first copy as is, a 2nd copy would be overexerting myself even if it was just to cycle.

I have 2 copies and I play both of them naturally, one day at a time, no TT. I like having twice as many villagers, twice as many stores to shop in, get signatures or drop off Katie at any point during the day and have 2 completely different towns. I had 2 WW towns also so it was a no-brainer to get 2 copies of NL. And I've played each one every single day since launch day (June 9th). I love ACNL.

I have 2 copies and my second town is a holding town for wanted villagers. I also TT in this town so I don't have to in my main town.

Pretty much this.

I wanted a second town because I wanted to experience a new layout and new villagers. I wanted to decorate new houses and landscaping. I didn't want to reset my first town since I love it and all my villagers.
I love having more than one town. ^^
