I?ve time travelled since I started playing in the GameCube. Before I knew these forums for animal crossing existed. I thought it was a normal way to play the game and that?s what everyone did lol. I don?t time travel anymore and I won?t in the switch version. Looking back I now see time traveling takes away from the game.
Now, I TT because I actually don't have time to play alot. Between work and life obligations, time to play is few and slim. I can't remember to check in for this or that, nor do I always have time to. When I nerd something done, I need to do it now, otherwise I'll forget and who knows when I'll be able to play again.
In the past when I did have loads of freetime, I would TT simply cause I was bored of the day and wanted to play on a new one. Or cause I ordered from the catalogue and I want it here now.
I don't time travel in my main town. However, my boyfriend has a town he abandoned cuz he really does not like the game lol, and I use his town to scan in RV's and purchase items from them, then I'll time travel to get them right away and deliver the goods to my main town. I do that because I cannot wait a whole day to receive just 3 items, or with just scanning 1 RV a day and maybe only needing 1 item from it. I like to decorate my houses quicker than that since I have 4 houses to actually fill up lol. If I do it without time traveling in my boyfriend's town, I'd probably get bored of the game before I finished even just one house, since it seems like I never last longer than 6 months of playing before I go on hiatus for over a year.
I TT because I already unlocked all the shops and paid off the loan for my mayor's house, so there's not much to do except catalog new items and redecorate stuff. I also want to continue with the idea of hosting a giveaway someday, but it will need a lot more hybrid flowers, time and items. As a result, I definitely need to TT for now.
So I can unlock stuff and breed hybrids more quickly. It is part of the game by design, otherwise they wouldn't allow you to change the clock just for AC and would penalize you as harshly as they do in other games like Pok?mon when you TT.
I cannot play the game during daylight hours most of the time, I live on an opposite schedule.
The night ordnance helps only so much. If I were to only play on hours I was awake, I would be bared from a fair bit of the games features.
I used to time travel quite a bit before Fujimori and Gracey. It was mostly because I would do my dailies, buy out all the shops, then get bored and want to hurry up and get to the next day. Now that I'm documenting my town-building process, I'm enjoying playing one day at a time a lot more. But there are still days where I'm just like WELP, I'M DONE, TIME TO TT, although I don't do it.
The only time traveling I allow myself to do is to mess with the hours of the day. Depending on if I'm working that day or not, I'll change the time to maybe be 1pm instead of 6pm (which is the time I get home most days) so I can play a little during daylight hours. But I never change the actual day I'm playing in because I want to experience my town one day at a time.
i don't TT just because i like to have my credits scene when i sit on the plaza tree feel authentic and accurate. one of my towns is so messed up with T&T Mart and Super T&T opening on the same day
My brothers and I used to time travel in the GameCube version to Christmas for money in the mail. I don't really remember doing it other than that until New Leaf. In New Leaf, I would time travel back slightly if I forgot about and missed the window of time I told a villager I'd hang out with them. And then I'd time travel back to real time afterwards.
The reason I time travel in Animal Crossing New Leaf is to enhance my gaming experience with the game. When I first played the game without time traveling... I started to get extremely bored with the game quite fast then started time traveling and got addicted to the game. I was able to get a lot of things done by time traveling and it was amazing to see such great progress by doing so. Plus the fact that I was having a lot of fun playing the game instead of dreading of how slow the game was while playing. For me... Time Traveling is the best part about the game since I can go forward or go back in time. It's really cool that the villagers in my town would call me a Time Traveler whenever I spoke to them. Makes me think that my character(s) have an amazing super power. The power to travel through time.
In my first ever New Leaf town, I time travelled because I've always TT'd in the past games. It was just easier to progress. BUT, once I was able to see my Town's history on the tree, I really hated that the dates were messed up and such. Thus, I restarted and only ever play consecutively, each day at a time. There was an instance, however, where I missed like two weeks of playing. There, I TT'd back and just played each day so I technically never "missed" a day.
I only ever time traveled the time and not necessarily the date. I really disliked it when a villager wanted to come over to my house at a specific time, especially a time I just couldn't do. There was a couple of times, I got really impatient and wanted Gracie's store to be open, so I changed the date drastically to get it faster. After doing two towns like that, I decided it wasn't fun anymore. Time traveling took the fun out of playing the game and I just couldn't get into it again. So, in the next game, I decided to be a bit more patient and I no longer am going to do it. Its more rewarding to play the game without time traveling, at least in my opinion. Everybody is different though, so if other people want to do it, that's fine. I'm not going to.
i started tting in my current town because I just wanted to advance in the game, but it started messing with how my tree grew so I gave it a break. Now I dont tt because it just makes the game more enjoyable and prevents me from burning out and losing interest
Only for the sake of completing trades. Majority of players are impatient as of late, so that is why.
If it was possible, I wouldn't time travel at all. I like trying to adjust my schedule in real life to fit my NL activities. I would miss some events in NL at times yes, because I have things I'm responsible of irl, but that's fine too. Trying my best there to not miss out as possible as I can is fun to me. It makes my towns more enjoyable to me. So I have towns where I don't time travel and don't get anything by trades, or even from my other towns. Intact towns. (Yes you can call me silly, hahaha)
i actually don't time travel to complete projects. but i recently tt to try to get rid of chevre in a bad place BUT SHE REFUSED TO MOVE. i ended up accidentally getting rid of my bb pekoe after 2 months forward rip. so now just gonna let her move away naturally
In my first four towns, I mainly used time-traveling when switching from hiatus mode to active mode, and vice versa. The last four towns, I mainly time-traveled for items/hybrid farming.
Sometimes it would take days to plot a new villager house so I would have to time travel to catch up. Otherwise I wouldn't time travel. I did it a bit in ACGC and it made me lose interest in the game.
I've utilized time travel since the GameCube game. I do so for a few reasons.
Primarily, I just enjoy the style of play of being able to skip to the next day at my leisure because playing day-to-day can be a bit too slow for me.
Additionally, I have other interests and things to occupy my time and having to check into my town on a daily basis would feel more like a chore to me than a nice leisurely game session. If I don't feel like playing one day, or maybe for a week, or maybe for a few months, I'm not interested in being penalized because I took a break by having my villagers leave. I keep a log of each in-game time and date of the last time I played so I can always just time travel back to that time and date and not suffer any negative effects.
Time travel is also quite useful for things like farming Public Works Projects from your villagers, getting a villager you don't want in your town to move out faster, and plot resetting when you adopt or scan in a new villager. With how many visits to Katrina's tent you need to make to unlock her Main Street shop or if you're trying to get all of Gracie's fashion checks done as fast as possible then time travel is fantastic. This is especially true if you have multiple towns, in which case you might like to expedite certain things like getting the final version of the Nooklings' store.
I've never really related to the mindset of the games being a nice life simulator to engage with alongside the actual calendar, to be honest. It's great that other people can enjoy the games that way, but I've never been interested in interacting with them like that.
