I see some people online with rules in their town like, "Don't run on grass blah, blah, blah." When, "Don't talk to the animals." I really don't see the reason for that rule. Why can't I talk to them it's animal crossing? Is there really any reason I shouldn't?

I think they don't want their villagers to talk about some guest that visited a bunch of time ago, because villagers sometimes get stuck with certain phrases?

i dunno, it's kinda dumb

Maybe its to do w/ a Streetpass move-in?
not too sure, really

Another reasonable reason

It doesn't really bother me most of the time, but some of my villagers ping me and I hope for a PWP or a nice conversation and I wind up getting something like "I met a guy named So-and-So from SuchAPlace and he was a real time traveler." And when it happens over and over it can get very annoying, especially when I want PWP suggestions.

Still, I never tell anybody to not talk to my villagers if they want to.

It's because they don't want their villagers to mention visitors. I'm assuming it's to keept he dialogues at a minimum for when they try to find out who is leaving through rumours? It's the only reason I see.
I don't really get it though.
Seriously some people are so extreme with their town rules it makes no sense. I don't really mind it and I always respect their rules, but I really don't get the need to be so strict and bossy.

It's silly - I agree but maybe it's because they don't want them talking about them especially if they are preparing to give that villager away

It depends on what you're in my town to do. Most of the time I don't mind so much, but if I'm doing something quickly like letting a lot of people come to my town to sell a premium item or turnips or something then I want people to get in and out quickly. But if someone wants to come look around my town or whatever I don't mind if they talk to my villagers. But the dream feature can allow you to talk to villagers without them remembering you. Which is why I have my DA in my signature in case anyone ever wants to talk to one of my villagers but I'm not available.

I don't mind it myself, but it's been literally a year since my friend last visited my town (because he quit playing). My villagers still mention him as having visited recently.

Actually, if you have visitors in your Dream Town talk to villagers and then update the DT, they'll mention they dreamed about such and such.

SAY if someone wants to potentially give away / sell / trade a villager, and you walk up and talk to them, there's a chance that they could move into your town when they decide to move?

Point is, there's no reason to complain. So don't.

We can say what we like on a public forum as long as we don't start flame wars or something. People have every right to express their feelings in a civil way according to forum guidelines. Who are you to say what they can or cannot say?

My feelings are that this is a stupid thing to complain about.

Get off it.

I don't think it's a complaint as much as curiosity. I've always wondered why some people have that rule as well but it doesn't actually bother me that they do.

If the reason is the villager is moving out and the person reserved the villager for someone else... then it's understandable you shouldn't talk to the villager
If the reason is because they don't want the extra dialog to get in the way of a villager pinging to move out. I can say the extra dialog makes no difference when a villager wants to move out.

It's because they don't want them to mention you. While I'm sure you're awesome, I don't think they want to hear about you when they are trying to hear other, important information about the villager. I think that you should respect any rule, even if it seems odd. Like, I read in a book with a chapter about babysitting that even if the rule is something crazy like, "Junior should wear his body gear and armor when he goes outside" you should respect it. So maybe you shouldn't complain about it. If someone has the rule, there's probably a good reason for it.

HERE. Yes, you DID say what people can and cannot say.

YOU get off it. You are not in charge of what people may say especially when the OP and other participants are being civil. You are the only one who is not being civil. If you feel this way, then leave the thread. Save your breath for cooling your porridge if you are just going to be snarky.

Is it because I started my sentence with 'say'? Because that's- not abnormal English. It's like "Well..." or ""Imagine that..."

There's nothing to cause a fuss about, and you're fussing anyway.
