Quoted for truth.

It's boggling how people can have their feelings hurt by someone sitting in at a desk hundreds of miles away.
I wasn't hurt by them, more annoyed.

I wasn't hurt by them, more annoyed.
There's really a simple solution for that. Get off the computer. These annoyances are nothing more than a bunch of pixels on a screen. Nothing to get annoyed about.

Since the other thread was locked, and this sort of has the same idea, I'll just post what I was gonna say there here. (And if this would get this thread locked, tell me and I'll edit this post and delete it all.)

Sure, TBT has a lot of flaming, but as it's been said, that's who we are, and maybe it's for the better. I've seen some of the most annoying members I've ever "talked" to changed to people I enjoy being part of a community with. Does that make we do to change them right? Maybe not. But it happens, and it works.

And seriously, like the others said, WHO CARES IF PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET BUG YOU? I remember once my sister was playing some multiplayer online flash game. When she walked away, I was messing around and being an annoying little ***hole. My sister got all made, saying "HEY! You're gonna make them mad at me!" WHO CARES? Will you ever see these people in real life? There's a good chance you'll never talk to them online again!

Now, like I said, I'm not saying what we do is right OR wrong, but maybe it's the only way we can do things around here. You can't just barge into a community of people who (For the most part) respect each other and enjoy each other's company, and expect to change them because you're not welcomed. And you know why you weren't welcomed? Because you ticked someone off from the start. I've never seen a new member join here and just be flamed because they're a new member. Whether it be something stupid, such as their name, or their first post was "Hey I'm Bob and I think Storm is annoying and JJH needs to go die! And DF is a complete ******. Koehler, burn in Hell!", we usually have a reason. Take away the reason, and what do you get? A member who's welcomed into our community.

Aw dang... My sister just came in and starting bugging me and I lost my train of thought...

Ugh, either way, this is how TBT is. Sure, someday we might change. It might be gradual, one of us getting nicer at a time, or overnight we could all start skipping around giving out hugs and kisses. But until then, Welcome to TBT! My name is JJH.

I don't see the 'All of the above' option.
@ UltraByte: You've forgotten an obvious rule of the WORLD WIDE WEB (HAHAHA NO ONE SAYS WORLD WIDE WEB ANYMORE). INTERNET = SERIOUS BUSINESS.

Umm...can anybody explain this to me? I've been lurking for a bit, but...no clue whats going on.

It's nothing. FORGET WHAT YOU HAVE SEEN.

Guys. This. Is. NOT. Cool.

I get back to TBT, naively thinking that people will be civil to each other, just like they were in the "old days". Instead, all I see are topics like this. Flamebait, people being jerks, uncivil, and a really negative atmosphere.

What's happened to this place? Where's the TBT that I used to know? The warmer, kinder TBT, where most people knew each other? I know it's been a while, but I'd still like to believe that TBT has not changed. I'm severely dissapointed in you. I came here to get AWAY from all the spam and crap at GameFAQs, and what do I get? More of the same? I thought we were better than that.

H, I miss those days too. TBT was actually fun...

Eh, after thinking a bit, I think that some of what I said is right, and some is wrong.

We should change. If we could change, we could grow, and pull in more members. But, that would only make the existing problem worse. More new members would increase the flame and spam here, most likely. So until we do change, growing will be hard, and dangerous for TBT's future.

I don't know if we have to change. I mean, most of us here enjoy ourselves. Sure, "getting into" TBT may be hard, but once you're "in", you have fun, right? Why expand our community if we're happy with what we have?

Yeah, those two paragraphs contradict each other, but that's how I feel. We need to change if we want to grow, but do we want to grow? I'm perfectly happy with TBT the way it is. More than a few times, my family's looked at me like I'm an idiot because I'm doubled-over, laughing at something on here. Would I enjoy it more if we grew? I don't know.

Change can be good or bad. If we want change, then we be "nicer" and grow, and risk letting in what's causing our "problem". Or, we can stay as we are, not grow that much, and remain, for the most part, happy.

As long as we stay in our current state, however, there'll still be people who want, even demand, change. We can't please everybody. For the most part, TBT is in two groups; people who want change (Mostly the staff, newer members, people who left and are coming back, and a few other people) and people who would be happy if we stay the same, chasing out who we don't want here so that we remain a small, but relatively happy, community. And right now, we're in a constant battle, of group one ("Changers") trying to force group two ("Constants") into changing for a chance at greater success, or total failure, while group two continues to resist. At least, that's the way I see it.

Hm... I don't even know what most of what I just said is supposed to mean. Cookies and milk to whoever can figure it out.

Ugh... this is starting to sound like a counseling session on Dr. Phil...

Also, you forgot "Other" for people like me who don't care.

Shadow_Link, no, they're not just pixels on the screen. They're words typed out by real, living people. Not computers.

Ok, this is gonna go against everything I've said, but...

Bul's right. That like saying it doesn't matter what a friend IMs you. They're still words said by another human, meant to hurt you. From now on, I'm gonna do my best to be nice to each and every member.

But, should they give me a GOOD reason to flame/haze them, not poor grammar like we've been doin' to sunate (Sorry 'bout that, sunate, if you're reading this), but insulting/threatening me or another member, etc., I can't make any promises that I won't retaliate.

Time for TBT to have a new start.
