I never realized you didn't have to repeatedly press "A" while reeling the fish in?

All these years... I thought you had to mash "A" like a maniac until your finger hurt as your character struggled to reel in the fish...

...I'm still going to do that anyway. It simply doesn't feel like fishing without mashing "A". XD

And I've literally been doing that for years, too.

Anyone else?

:p I didn't know until I was curious to what happened if you didn't press "A". Like, did the fish get away?

So I tried it and saw, and it turns out the fish got reeled in just fine :o

Just mind-blowing.

I do this too! I'm still going to do it though, because I'm used to it. I've been doing it ever since I started playing AC. xD

I spent about 4 years mashing the A button on Wild World and City Folk, so when I found this out like 2 years ago I was legit stunned. I don't really fish anymore so its not a problem

I would always hold A. When I found out you only had to tap A, it was pretty shocking. I only really tap A now because I'm afraid holding it down with break the button. I can't even imagine what rapidly pressing A would do to the poor button.

*chuckle* I've only ever caught one fish in my life; I can't devote my patience to it. Well, maybe if I had to fish or starve...Anyway, fishing in AC is so easy & relaxing compared to, say LoZ & Sonic Adventure...ahh Big & his Froggy. Good times, good times. :)

I played for over a year before I found out about this. Not to mention all the other ac games I played. I still push the button really fast while fishing.lol.

Wait you don't have to hold down A? XD

I did the same until I noticed one day that I didn't need to. I still catch myself hitting the button or holding it till the fish is caught.
Right now I'm working on the amount caught and have been using the island. Sit in my lazyboy and lay the 3DS on my legs. Move her to the next fish and than hit the button. Use the stylus to instead of my finger. Before my fingers were sore from hitting the buttons all the time.

Ahaha... I was fishing like this until recently when I stopped and pondered to myself, 'I wonder what would happen if I only tapped A once?' And then it worked. Felt like Pokemon all those years ago again. <_>;

Oh hey, someone who remembers Sonic Adventure! Picked up a Dreamcast a few months ago, with that game. And promptly remembered why I didn't actually do much of Big the cat's story.

Interesting fact: his voice actor is the same voice actor that does Duke Nukem

No way. I've always done the button mashing. I've done this for the 5years I've had animal crossing... I'm gonna still continue doing it!

I never mashed A but I would always hold it until I pulled the fish in. Then my brother saw me holding A and told me.
So don't worry! If it wasn't for my brother, I'd still be holding A. xP

Uhhh, please tell me we're supposed to rotate the circle button very fast while reeling in fish...right? right?!

Nope! Just pressing A once when reeling it in is all you need to do.

I made this mistake for like a month or so when I first got the game. I guess one day I decided to see what would happen if I didn't smash A and when I realized I still got the fish, I felt pretty silly.
