Who thought Summer went by fast? Did you make the most of it?

Don't worry too much about A-Levels, I've finished my first year of college and while they are more challenging they are also a lot more fun! I did have to drop one of my subjects (Chemistry) as I found it way too difficult and I failed my winter exam for it (We don't have to do Winter exams anymore!) but talk to your head of college if you have any trouble and you can drop the subject (They only do this in extreme cases though) or if it's the start of the year you can change the subject!
What subjects are you taking? I took Business Studies (AQA), Biology (OCR) and Media Studies (WJEC).

If you are having any trouble with A-Levels feel free to PM as I know how you've felt! :)

My summer is going rather slow, I'm on week 2 of 6 though I start my library volunteering tomorrow and it's my birthday in 6 days! Most of my friends are in different countries right now so I haven't had much to do apart from my summer work, my boyfriend arrives back home at 2am ON MY BIRTHDAY (Best birthday present) and I have my first driving lesson on my birthday too (Anyone living in Colchester may want to avoid the roads at 11:30-1:30!!)

I've got my driving theory test in late August, in all my practice tests so far I'm only 2% away from a pass!! I'm also sending off my CV to practically every business in Colchester in hopes of getting a job as well as applying for already listed jobs which don't require experience... I'm going down to London for a shopping trip with some friends a week after my birthday.

Oooh i will definitely PM you about advice etc, nice to see someone else from the UK i can actually discuss it with :) I get pretty good grades at School, mainly A's but even then the teachers have tried to terrify me about college saying an A at GCSE would be Equivalent to an E at College, and so its really made me quite worried!
Really glad theres no winter exams now..
I'll be taking English Literature, History, English Language & Religious Studies! can't blame you for dropping Chemistry, it's an horrendous subject :p
Plus i am looking forward to it in the fact i no longer will have to do subjects i clearly just do not like, such as ICT, and can focus on the ones i actually like :)

The "GCSE A is equivalent to an A-Level E" is rubbish, as long as you do all your work and extra research outside of college you will do fine! If your college gives you free periods/private study sessions use them, don't sit there doing nothing, a private study session is the great time to go over the things you have already learnt and to do extra research- This extra research can push you up a few marks in exams and coursework. Another thing, if one of your subjects offers a trip you should go on it if you can as these trips can give you extra information on the topics you are covering (For Biology we went to our local university and got to use some of their equipment!)

How come you guys from europe are calling it your A-levels? Does the USA do that too, or do they just call it your A-levels in school where you live?

In the UK we have GCSE's (Taken by 14-15/16 year olds) which take place in the last two years of Secondary school- They are your basic qualifications. Then you have A-Levels (Taken by 16/17-18 year olds) which to do you need to have done your GCSE's, you take these in College for two years and are split into AS Levels (First year) and A2 Levels (Second year). You need to have done full A-Levels to get into a University to do a degree. (University is fully optional so most people go into jobs with only GCSEs and A-Levels)

Ok, thanks for explaining that.

I go back on September 4th. I hate school so much, because of waking up early for boring lessons, which is not worth waking up for. I'm also in year 10 now, which is going to be stressful.

There's no such thing as a slow summer. Personally I think this summer has been a blast. I have seen my friends a lot and played a lot of hoops.

This whole year has flown by too quickly - as for summer, no matter how fast it's passed it will never be fast enough (abysmal heat).

School/college/torture/fun/drama is starting soon! Is everyone ready for the year?

I wish I could say the same thing as the rest of you guys.

Well, my summer went by in a snap,
I swam 2 times,
I couldn't put my pool up,
It's rained almost every single day (no joke),
and it's been lame and boring for me. If I didn't have New Leaf with me, I'd say this was the worst summer in my life, but 2009 takes the cake for that.

The only thing I'm dreading is having to pick an outfit out every morning. So stressful as everyone already in my sixth form goes over the top with what they wear :( hopefully my year will have really bad dress sense so I don't stand out :')
