Who speaks Japanese?

I'm really interested in their culture, and I'm curious as to how many TBT'ers are fluent/learning in this language.

As for me, I'm currently learning the basic speaking stuff (not writing just yet).

I'm not fluent, I knew the basics since I was little (my mom was born in japan and speaks it around the house). I'm learning it but not atm because I'm lazy. I can write hiragana/katakana and up to grade 3 kanji. That's about it hah. Not much ik

I learned some of it four years ago. Hiragana & katakana, along with some kanji. I can understand spoken Japanese fairly well, I'm kinda slow with reading though.

Ask static when she comes back, she's going to Japan to learn the language.

I have learned japanese for two years in college, studied in Japan for a month... though I'm already forgetting most of the kanji and grammar that I have already learned... though, for some odd reason, I can pinpoint certain phrases and words in the music and anime/jdramas with no problem at all.

I was raised in the language when I was really young, but I haven't attempted to speak it in a while (Since it's not necessary).

I know a very tiny bit... more than just senpai, watashi, etc but not enough to say I can speak it. But enough to get a general grasp of what someone is talking about most of the time. Also I can read English words and wasei-eigo written in katakana just fine

Both of my parents are Japanese, even though I can speak it nearly fluently I never really went to a Japanese school. (we lived abroad). I quit Kumon at a very early age (which I regret) so writing kanjis is hell for me (writing and not typing)

I don't have the French nationality and eventually I must go 'home', and I'm scared to be honest.
I would love to practice more!

usually when I mention to people online I am Japanese, people think I am some kind of a weeaboo xD

People believe others when they say they are Chinese or korean origin , but Japanese immigrants exist too!

I studied Japanese around 4 years and then got bored of it because my teacher was really annoying :--( I would love to study it again but sadly I have more important things to do atm ... I only know some basic sentences and separate words because I was too lazy to study properly and I regret it now >.< I think watching anime/drama or playing games are also good ways to learn some Japanese~

I'm going to take a conversation course in Japan this July, for a month then next year I will spend my summer again in Japan for 3 months to learn more
