Who should I choose as a smug in my town?

Hello all!

I've been doing some planning for my new town, but I'm unsure of who to choose for my villagers. I ideally want at least one of each personality, and no double ups of species (although I'm kinda lenient on that). I've narrowed it down to 3 villagers I like: Toby, Julian and Wolf Link. I love them all, but I can't decide on who.

Toby:
PROS:
- I think he's a bit underrated and I love his house!
- His design is very cute
CONS:
- I've already chosen a bunny villager for another personality

Julian:
PROS:
- He fits very nicely with my town theme and colours
CONS:
- I'm not 100% on him, maybe because he's a bit over-popular

Wolf Link:
PROS:
- I love his design very much! As well as his house
- I love LOZ, so yeah haha
CONS:
- I'm considering other wolves at the moment for other personalities

Julia, because unicorn In my opinion you shouldn't let that popularity thing have anything to do with it, because who cares if the villager is overhyped or underrated? I have to admit that I have lost interest in a lot of my favorites because people constantly talking about how overhyped they were, but I don't care about that anymore, if I like a villager then I like them, lol

I actually had to search up Toby because I didn't know who it was ahah, but oh my god how precious!

wolf link! i have in my town and he;s just lovely. julian's too overrated.

Wolf Link. Although Toby is really cute, the texture on the sanrio villagers aren't the best. I don't see wolf link in too many towns either, and I think he has a really great design that goes with a lot of villagers. However you did say that Julian went with your theme a bit more, so maybe choose him? Even if Julian is a little too overrated, it shouldn't deter you from choosing him for your town if he works. Maybe look at dream towns with Julian in them to see if you're sure that you want him? But at the end of the day it's about having villagers that YOU like in your town not necessarily if they go with your theme or not. I'm sure you'll still be able to have a good town theme without the matching villagers.

I voted for Toby because I like him the best and you don't see him very often. But Wolf Link is also cool and if you like Julian and he works in your town, then you shouldn't let his popularity keep you from getting him.

I never understood the appeal of Julian until I had him in my town and now I adore that sweet boy!

If you can get Toby, I would choose him. Julian is already in so many towns like you've said, and with W. Link you'd have to deal with it being the only Nintendo iteration of him that talks, which would ruin it for me. : P

I had both Toby and Julian in the past but I thought they were just okay.The smugs are one of my favorite personalities in the game but these two just didn't do it for me,so I'd give Wolf Link a try.I've seen him in a couple of dream towns and even though I'm not crazy about the wolves in this game I kind of liked him.

I'm not a big fan of the smug villagers. Honestly, I don't even have a smug in every town any longer. I only have one if I need the pwp's. That said, I love Pietro. He is one of my top ten villagers and would never be without him. Julian too

I'm not sure why but I always wind up talking to the resident smug the most in all of my towns.I think the smugs and jocks might have the funniest(or should I say goofiest?)dialogue in the game and it's especially funny if that dialogue is coming from some the more unusual looking smugs like Beardo,Hans and Rodney.

I say Toby will fit your town the best and not unicorns and it will be strange having W.Link in your town because your theme isn't zelda. So I say Toby and Toby does have a very pretty house.

I had all three villagers once in my past towns and personally, I would go here with Wolf Link.
I think he would fit in your town and he's also a pretty cool guy.

julian! his design is so cute & his house is also super nice. i agree he might be a little overhyped but if you really want him, you should definitely go for it!

I think not liking a villager because they're popular is a bit silly (not saying that as an insult to you or anything), and I like Julian! He's a unicorn, what more can you ask for! And if he fits your theme, that's even better!
